Optimistic?

Are you optimistic for the new season? New manager with new ideas but not proven with top teams. Just one new signing and that is Borini who is unknown to many.

We will definitely be signing more players but we don’t want them similar to Hodgson and Dalglish signings (apart from Suarez). I trust RB on this. I think Borini is exactly what we need and he is the type of player which suits the PL. He has pace, skill, works hard, and never gives up. He is also very strong for his size, can play in different positions and can score goals from any where. I agree with BR. We will love him.

Also, I think we will win more matches than last two seasons. We will be again hard to get beat but equally yet again will find it very difficult to beat most teams because there are many players who will be damaging the team more than benefiting it such as Henderson, Carroll and Downing. The problem is getting rid of them is not easy. They are all too expensive to be loaned out or sold or simply no one is interested. At the moment, we have had only a couple of offers for Carroll. Unless we buy new good players, then we will still be short of the CL position. Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal have done well so far in the transfer market. Everton still have the same good team. We are still way behind Man Utd and Man City.

We have a good goal keeper and a solid defence but the subs are not good enough for a long season. Only Kelly can be depended on. Jones, Doni, Carragher and Flanagan are not kind of players for a team who wants to compete for the top four.

I’m glad Lucas is back. We missed him last season. But my worry is the manager would need to play Henderson, Spearing and Downing at some stage when we get injuries and suspensions. We also have lost two experienced players in Kuyt and Maxi. We need new players in this position. I hope we get Ramirez and promote some youngsters such as Suso and Sterling. There are some reports that we are going to sign Walcott.

We also need another striker. We basically need at least three more players. A midfielder, right winger and another striker or attacking midfielder. Unlike Hodgson and Dalglish, I trust Rodgers for spotting a talent and buy new players. The problem is whether good players want to come to us or not. Juventus are now favourite to sign Ramirez and also the owner may be reluctant to spend.

i will reserve judgement on how we will do until i have seen the pre season games to get a jist of if we will be ok or not and how the set up looks and plays.

for now be happy with a top 6 finish, we certainly have good enough players for that, but they just didn't perform last season, but who knows what could happen.

As long as we are challenging the top 6 and our performances are consistent then I'll e happy!
Agree with the areas we cud strengthen and some of the players need removing.
Don't agree about andy, stew and jord. They had a bad
season. They will be better!
Will reserve optimism on how we will do until we see who br will sign

I think a lot depends on Lucas. If Lucas is fit Liverpool can get Champions league next season. Of course apart from Borini an extra three players are needed, Dempsey, Allen and another attacker would be perfect.

Liverpool are a team that simply do not concede many, and so two goals will 8 times out of ten win them a game. I'm confident that with the likes of Suarez, Borini, Dempsey, Bellamy, Gerrard Liverpool can score goals next season.

But Lucas is the key to the balance of our game.

Without him last season the wheels came off.

I'd be disappointed with 6th. We're better than that.

Making a prediction at this juncture is difficult. The team haven't kicked a ball yet for the new manager and the transfer window is still open and I would hope our transfer dealings are far from over.

One area of concern I have at the present time is how much money FSG are willing to invest in the squad. IF the club choose to sell Carroll, then I suspect that BR has been told that he will have to generate money through sales, which for me goes against some of the things FSG have said when they bought the club. However, as said, firm judgements can't be made until the team actually plays and the transfer window closes.

To answer your question....at this moment I am not particularly optimistic until we start signing some quality. i will reserve judghment on Rodgers until I actually see him at work, i dont judge managers by their press conference or the fact theyve learnt
to speak Spanish :?

Brendan has been to Spanish training camps to learn the Philosophy of how they play and setup, so bit more than learning Spanish!

give the man more credit than just good press conferences
