BS TRANSFER ARTICLE

Haven't seen one of these articles for a while, but my laptop is being repaired at the moment so I can't play Football Manager.. Right then, my opinion on Summer Signings

Last season when we signed Downing, we were all in agreement that it was great news that we had actually signed a real Winger... even if it was, Stewart Downing. With Downing failing to impress last season, added with the departure of Kuyt and Maxi, its pretty clear for all to see that we're in need of another winger.

Preferably I would like the club to sign a pacey winger capable of playing on both the left and right. My Targets would be...

Muniain - Athletic Bilbao
Nolito - Benfica
James Rodriguez - Porto
Tello - Barcelona

I believe we would be capable of signing any of these players, obviously FSG would have to fork out some cash.. but I would say that cash spent on players of this quality would be money well spent.

Another position we lacked luster in last season would the Defensive Midfield position, it was quite clear when Lucas was sidelined last season we didn't have anyone good enough to fill this position. Don't get me wrong, I like Spearing, I rate his work rate... but I just don't think hes very good.

Banega - Valencia
Defour - Porto
Joe Allen - Swansea
De Jong - Man City

The final postion that I think we need covering is in defence, now I'm unsure about whether we need a cover for Enrique in Leftback.. or another Centerback ready for Carraghers imminent retirement.

If we were going for Centerbacks, I'd go for somebody like Shawcross... absolutely wonderful centerback, strong and physical and can place a half decent pass too.

For Leftbacks, I''d target somebody like Royston Drenthe. This would give us the option of playing him further up into Midfield, if and when Downing begins underperforming and would certainly give us a different dimension on the left.
