Anyone going watching it? And for that matter will any of the matches be shown live on Tv.
I would imagine the BBC will be screening the England and Wales team's matches.
Hard to believe that Scotland have no representatives on the so called TeamGB squad . Ironically the best Scottish player at the moment is probably James Mc Carthy of the ROI!! Surely he would have been considered for this side if he hadn't opted to play for us!!!
Olympic Football tournament!!!

Oh, as for the Olympic Football Tournament, whats all that about? Are the athletes going to play a little fun footy tournament for charity once the events are over, or what?
Cant believe that they didnt pick Beckham. He was desperate to play and they owe him so much, but they just couldnt make the gesture! What a sad lot!

Considering Football is still easily the most popular sport in Scotland it's shocking that they aren't producing anymore Baxters,Johnstones,Laws and Dalglishs Reiver! Who knows maybe they will unearth another few gems over the next few years! On the subject of Beckham. I think Stuart Pearce excluded him on the grounds that he wants to be seen as the man in charge and doesn't want to be seen to be Bowing to media pressure! Bad move from a commercial point of view anyway!

neither are we......
McGeady, McCarthy, McClean.....all of our best young talent.....not from Ireland

And what about the other "Mc" making up the quartet of young raw talent?........McShane!!

Mc Clean is from Ireland, Rover! If you want an update on rising young Irish stars type Robbie Brady of Man U into google! This could be his breakthrough season at Old Trafford!

I was waiting on someone to pick up on that. This is not a politics board by the way.... What I’m saying is that we haven’t produced any young players in ROI that are making waves in England. So before we start having a go at Scotland’s lack of young talent we should look closer to home….
Yes…Robbie Brady might turn out to be a good player but so might my nephew playing U-12’s for his local team! At the moment its only potential. When it comes to young talented players from ROI making it big in England, we don’t have many at the moment

I wasn't having at go at Scots by the way Rover I was just stating that's it's strange for a country where Football is by far the most popular sport that they don't seem to be producing the calibre of player they used to!

Rover I agree we tend to go overboard about young Irish players. Anyone remember Jay O'Shea for example! But Brady apparently did very well on loan at Hull and he has a good scoring record for the Irish U21'a! Funnily enough Alex Ferguson wants him to play at left back!

Maybe ourselves and the Scots belong to the era of windy nights standing on the terraces, men only, cloth caps and dunchers, pipe tobacco and Woodbines and go for a leek against the wall up round the back if you must. We just havent made the transition to the metro-sexual, I.T., Facebook World. We are forever RETRO and this has somehow affected our ability to produce great footballers as in days of yore!

Ha ha very good Reiver! Don't forget the air thick with the smell of woodbine smoke and youngsters being passed over the turnstiles for free entry!
