have offered £15mil, why not offer £15mil + berbatov to sweeten the deal, if we're serious about getting him berbatov is no way gonna get any games so might as well use him as part of the deal? I

2nd rate ?

What does that make Arsenal then

Berba and £15m for RVP? No thanks.

More like Macheda and £15m

I don't think he's saying that. I think he's saying if Arsenal sell to United, it's proving Arsenal are 2nd rate.

I could be wrong though...

That's how I read it too!

I'm a realist

Before the billionaire sugar daddies Arsenal could challenge for the title alongside United.

Wenger's genius allowed us win titles even though compared to us Man United were massive spenders.

However it isn't possible for us to win the title anymore because we are competing against 3 clubs that vastly out spend us.

1 or 2 clubs maybe but with City now too, no chance - too many things have to fall in our favour and against the other 3 for that to happen.

We are 2nd rate in the transfer market, to sell to United would be announcing to the EPL we 2nd rate in a competive sense

So, you would rather sell another player to City, than United?

Surely Weng can't sell his best player to City after seeing others go that way.... The fans would be in uproar, regardless of the fee.

On paper, a cash plus Berba deal seems to suit everyone... But not sure it is likely.

I don't understand Arsenal logic, they won't sell to Utd but they sell all their players to City who have overtaken them.
________________

I agree, it would be nonsense if true. If Wenger is worried City are getting too far ahead and stopping Arsenal from winning the league then why ensure they go even further ahead.

If he already thinks it's impossible to compete with City, then no wonder Arsenal don't win anything. SAF would never concede that.

Given the past few seasons of buys from Arsenal you'd think City would be the last person they'd want to sell to. They will just look like City's feeder club.

Anyway Wenger doesnt have too much choice in this. If RVP says he's going to who he wants or going there for free next summer after a miserable season sulking then Arsenal will sell.

Whether we sell them RVP or not they'll get as a far ahead of us as it is possible to do so with unlimited funds.

As I have said already we have proved ourselves capable of battling United for the league therefore it is a nonsense to sell to them.

If City offer extravagant money for a 29 yr striker they really don't need then that is far better situation.

Better to sell to one team we can't compete with financially anyway than selling our best players across a number of clubs. That would hurt us more!

Ideally he will go to Juve and there has been strong suggestion for several months now in Italy that talks with the player have already taken place.

And as I already said below the bit you chose to cut and paste, if Wenger is already accepting that City are out of reach and can't be challenged by them so Arsenal might as well sell them their best player to improve them further, then no wonder Arsenal don't win things any more. SAF would never accept that.

Also as I said above Wenger doesnt have too much say in it and RVP can end up wherever he wants if not now then next summer but for nothing. Given how tight Wenger is, he wont let that happen.

Thirdly in the FFP world Arsenal should be stronger than City, so that's another reason Wenger shouldnt just accept they can't be caught.

Finally if Arsenal accept they can't compete with City on the pitch, then they definitely can't compete with United either.
