afternoon champions
looking at our home game against helsinki who are half way through there season and now top of there league this is a game we must not take lightly!
4-5-1 is a must a scrappy 1-0 win would do just fine no need for lennys gung-ho 4-4-2/3-5-2 approach
a simple defensive passing game much like the way walter smith lined his team up against decent opposition
we must make group stages of champ league or face playing with this squad all season no signings no new centre back and no new number 9
make no bones about it we will not sign anybody unless we make group stages of champ league at very best maybe a loan signing or 2!
with that said we need to line up something like this
forster
matthews--ronge--mulgrew--izzy
------------------wanyama------------
forrest-----brown----ledley-----sameras/commons
-----------------hooper/sameras-------
if sammy plays wide left (and i think he should) play hooper up front not his best position and yes he needs a 2nd striker to be at his best but he is better there than stokes on his own
if commons plays left mid then it gives us a good chance from set plays andhe can score a goal or 2 when he is on form and forrests pace on right should cause any left back problems
wanyama must play infront of back 4 to provide cover for izzy and matthews when they go forward plus he has good strength to hold up there number 10 who ever he is (is rafinha still there?)
heres hoping for good 2 or 3 nil win but as ive said id take 1-0 now we must not concead!!
hail hail

I kno its only pre-season but my worry is the lack of goal scoring chances we've had. if we do play someone behind the striker it needs to be Commons as Forrest is wasted there. The way we've been setting up so far suggests 4-4-2 imo.

i know mate but we need to be conservative here 4-4-2 is asking for trouble
commons playing in the hole could work with sammy left and forrest right but still to attacking for me

its a tough one. I think we'll struggle to score away.

This game will sort out what Lennon is made of. Crunch qualifier against a team half way through their season with no star names in their team.
Agree with OP, I would now take a 1-0 home win, if necessary park the bus because we have to take a lead over to Finland to have any chance in the tie.
Win this tie and we will at least have Europa League to look forward to this season.
Judging by yesterday's result/performance, the tie is 50/50.

"think celtic will win convincingly"
It's gonna'a be a nail biting 180 mins. We won't beat anybody easy at this stage of the season.
One thing for sure, after yesterday, there will be no complacency in the team.

The Helsinki game is the biggest match of our season.
Get through, and anything gained after this is an absolute bonus.
