Scottish Football may not recover

from what has happened in the last 2 months.

We have had 10 clubs living off the old firm and very soon they will be calling all the shots. It will be setanta deal after setanta deal as the free loaders look to the bones of Celtic and Rangers after they have taken all the flesh.

we will be lucky to have a team in the group stages of Europe this season and our national team is a joke. Yet we pay through the nose for third rate performances as the game in Scotland is about stopping football. and getting as much as you can with little if any investment.

If you take your family to a International you talking over a £100 just to get in to watch a 3rd rate team trying to prevent some second rate team from playing.
At a domestic level is it any wonder when we play in Europe we don't know how to deal with teams pressing us, when we come up against teams 30 times a season who want to camp in their own half and hope to hit us with a lucky break away.

A year without the old firm games and Scottish football will be seen for what it is 11 teams thinking its a victory if they can stop Celtic playing. The same Celtic that would have took 5 off everyone of these teams a few years ago, if they had tried the same stalling tactics.

Somehow I don't see sky willing to part with decent money for that but the tv moneys is a drop in the ocean , and as long as European teams are willing to press Celtic our defence will always be found out and its the money from Europe we can't go without. .

Without the CL money we are in the same boat as the rest of the SPL due to the wages we spend. Investing in youth is a way forward however its gamble as any real talent is normal pick up by a parasites sorry "agents" and the investment is either lost or we are held to ransom. I've got to hold my hands up I remember screaming because the board started to spend less and less money from 2004 onwards, how wrong was I then but I won't be making the same mistake in 2012.

We have some great young players at our club thanks to some very impressive scouting, and that's probably the best way forward. But you have to wonder how long we can hold onto this talent in a league that only wants to stop them playing. For Celtic to do anything in Europe we need a strong Rangers and we are not going to have that for another 4 years at least.

,The whole of europe is heading for a finacial meltdown, clubs right across europe will have to start living within there means, were as well to get ours sorted now, no-one knows what going to happen in 10 years time, would anyone in scotland have predicted thiis in the late 70s early 80s??? There is a real passion for football in scotland but the lack of competition had nearly killed it, this might have just saved our game, people should just stop reading all the doomsday scenarios, focus on the positives

Scottish football is going to lose money things will become tight, but like I have now we should build on our youth as this is the way forward for us now

As for Europe and the EPL yes things will change in the future but I would bet my life that it won't change to much, as long as SKY is arround clubs will make millions, sadly that won't include us, but to be honest we sky pay us compared to what they pay the rest is peanuts

I say let's start looking forward to the future of our game and as long as us the fans keep supporting our teams and keep the money coming in, then who knows what the future holds

Who's to say things wont go back to what they we like in the 80's?? I know it would never be exactly the same but if you'd tried to tell any football fan in the 80's this was gonna happen they'd just have laughed at you, people will be keeping an eye on scottish football over the next few years, if the competition increases they will keep watching. The doomsday brigade should be chucked out scottish football the money would be better used elsewhere

The Rangers affair is probably the best thing to happen to Scottish football in many years. At least the clubs will now be more evenly matched.
All that is needed is for Celtic to disappear, and it will finally be a league which can be taken seriously. Yes, it will still be poor in quality. But at least it won't be ridiculously predictable.
