The Race today

I caught the race late on (lap 26 i think it was) so i didn't see the Massa incident and Hamiltons puncture. Judging by the fact he was fighting with the leaders after being lapped suggests the race victory could have been there for him. It's nice to see the McLaren boys on form again and that car did look hooked up today, lets hope they are still on it at Hungary and beyond. Lets face it, we all want to see the top teams battling it out at the front.

Alonso has once again showed his class by producing a fantastic performance where there was a time in the race when a supposedly much faster car (Red Bull) was all over his gearbox.

Vettel's downfall in this race was probably when a lapped Hamilton passed him (which i think he ws entitled to do) which in turn allowed Button to pass him. He was erratic after the Hamilton incident and was quite rightly punished for over-taking Button off the track.

Obviously glad that Kimi went on to score a podium (after Vettels time penalty). That Lotus does look mighty quick in the right conditons but you have to wonder will these perfect conditions continue for them to push on in the constructors? I doubt it.

Special mention to Rosberg today after a stellar drive from 21st on the grid to collect vital points for him and his team

Alonso was absolute class today. Fully deserved his win. Looks like being World Champion this year. Which is good. Also this Vettel hate is getting ridiculous.

Wow, i never realised there was so much hate for Vettel on this board

I do not hate Vettel or anyone for that matter. He annoys me and the hype around him makes it worse.

There isn't a season that goes by that the RedBull team isn't reported to stewards for illegal parts of the car. The fact Newey designs the car to pass the tests makes it all that more farcical.

Look at Alonso, as an individual, not my cup of tea but he is a superlative driver. The best driver on the grid with the race craft and natural instincts of a racer.

He isn't a time trialist or a lapper like the finger

You clearly hate him man u and are hiding behind this illegal car nonsense.
I dont hear much hate for webber in the sisiter car.
Wonder why that could be

I do not hate him, I'm more sympathetic to Webber because he's had to play rear gunner to this limited driver.

Webber on equal footing has been more than a match for him in that illegal car.

I'm sorry Vettel is average and the finger wagging and yes, yes, that's what I'm talking about after securing another illegal pole position is not my cup of tea

I have problems with the entire RedBull team, not just Vettel. Why I do not slate Webber as much is because he's displayed more race craft and is ready to scrap with the best of them and has been hard done by the team in favour of the lapper.

I don't understand how unlapping yourself by overtaking someone is a problem. I'm sure the situation could arise (and has arisen) when a team with a very fast car had problems and lost a lot of time so they switched to a different strategy which inevitably ended up with them unlapping themselves (not including yesterday's example). By Vettel's logic the only way people can unlap themselves is via pitstops (or not at all).

I assume RB knew Lewis was very fast on new tyres so they should have told Vettel to let Lewis past because they weren't racing him at the time.

Anyway.... I hope that Lotus get a win this year - would love to see Kimi on that top step again!

Vettel's downfall is he doesn't have an upfall.

The guy is a second rate Massa in a car that is better than a Ferrari.

That Red Bull car is illegal. When has Hamilton, in his career, driven an illegal car?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't tell if you are serious or not; firstly the Red Bull is not technically illegal it exploits a loop hole in the regulations (much like the double diffuser did) which will be closed and Red Bull will have to stop with their clever engine mapping.
Secondly Mclaren have done this sort of thing while Hamilton has been driving, in 2008 their bridge wing flexed at high speed the FIA changed the regulations so that bridge front wings had to be secured in the middle to prevent flexing. Before reg change http://tiny.cc/ytuyhw , after reg change http://tiny.cc/3uuyhw .

Finally in 2007 (Hamiltons first season) Mclaren received stolen designs and data from Ferrari, which it would be foolish to assume did not help their performance, this was not only against the sporting regulations in F1 but also a criminal offense!

You mean Alonso received stolen designs from Ferrari. When it was discovered, Ron Dennis immediately reported it to the FIA.

Would also wager that asking someone to crash into a wall to enable someone else win a race is criminal behaviour too

Do not even get me started on the mass damper i

MadMancHatter (U10925) – yes I am being serious.

Ever since F1 began all of the teams tried to secretly break the rules. Nowadays it is more difficult as improvements in technology have enabled the stewards to be more rigorous.

Firstly, either something is legal or it is not. Technically legal makes no sense.

Your link regarding McLaren flexible wing does not seem to work so I am unable to comment on that aspect.

Regarding McLaren 2007 please see the following links

Renault were also found guilty of spending two years stealing McLaren data but they received no punishment.

The McLaren 2007 car did not contain any device that was illegal and McLaren, as part of their punishment, was prevented from developing their 2008 car.
