What did you think of Vardy?

I didnt go yesterday so just wondered what did everyone think of Vardy?

I'm really excited to see him play for us and, as I've said in the past, have no doubt that he is going to be VERY good for us. Whilst we have paid 1 mill for essentially a non-league player, I think he is still a great steal.

Last season he was just immense, not because he was JUST up against poor opposition, but his technical ability, fearlessness and pace (which can be applied to any league) was just unreal. It's also pleasing to see NP play him as a striker as well... whilst he can play as a winger, he is just wasted in that position.

He will score goals, very quick and gets in good positions..I was not worried he missed a couple,he was in the right places..nice to see a forward playing along side nugent who actually puts a shift in..a million well spent IMO.

I didn't go, but my friend said he looked eager if not a little rough around the edges which is to be expected.

He also said he wished we had two Marshalls! One to play in behind the strikers and one to play on the wing.

If Gallagher can get some consistency in his game (because when he is on form, he can put a very good cross in) I think Marshall in the hole is a strong possibility.

It's encouraging to hear positive reports about Vardy, but I reckon I'll reserve judgement on him until we've seen the bloke come up against Championship standard defenders. It's really incredibly difficult to read anything into these pre-season friendlies - I remember a certain Mark de Vries looking like a world beater in a couple of them.

Also couldn't help noticing that Peltier played 45 minutes last night - that would seem to be a bit of an odd decision if we're on the verge of selling him. Perhaps Pearson has changed his mind on that one?

I'm inclined to agree with TIM on this - I remember thinking that Ashley Chambers looked excellent against Hinckley a few years back...

As for Peltier, I also noticed that he played, although by the look of the team lists I thought he was probably playing as a centre back, while De Laet and Moore played at right back. Was anyone there last night who could confirm that or otherwise?

Either way, read into that what you will.

If he is on his way out it must be in the very early stages and if it doesn't go through then to not have played any pre-season would put him well behind the others, I just think he is still a Leicester player so will continue like the others

Peltier played at RB Dunge.

The stand out performers last night was certainly De Laet in the 1st half (Which we didnt play particularly well in btw), who had quite a few good runs up the right flank and whipped in a couple of good crosses.

The second half brought a lot more of an energetic and dominant performance from City, mainly because of the energy Danns brings to the middle of the park. Vardy has got some serious pace about him and he looks more than capable to not only put in a good shift to help the team but is equally handy at getting into the right places at the right time to tuck goals away. Maybe i'm getting a bit carried away as I've only seen him play 45 minutes against Hinckley but i am looking forward to next season with a lot of intrigue as to how he gets on, and who will lead the frontline. Interesting times..........

"Peltier played at RB Dunge."

So Moore played centre back next to Morgan then?

Yes Dunge he played alongside Morgan and had a pretty good game. Nugent and Vardy looked like a good partnership but the standard of oppo was so poor I wouldn't read anything into it.

We will have to wait and see.

Danns BOSSED it though

For me, the best players last night were De Laet, Nugent, Vardy, Marshall and Danns. I also enjoyed my pint in the Plough, and pie and chips from round the corner in Derby Road. It looked as if Waggy had done the same.
