This is what SAF said in full:

25/7/2012: Sir Alex Ferguson updated the transfer situation during a press conference in Shanghai. "We've been trying all summer to add to our squad," he said. "We've got Kagawa and Powell and we're working on one or two other things. I have nothing to tell you in terms of confirmation as to whether any other players are joining us at this moment in time. But we are trying to add to our squad."

that's quite positive then. was really expecting a dead end statement saying we're happy with what we have. happy with that.

at least it's positive, you can't expect him to give details until it's done.

Utd don't talk about transfers as a rule so we were lucky that Fergie even confirmed interest in Lucas.

Going back to least summer Fergie always said they were not looking to add anymore after he got Jones, De Gea and Young.

VCD, i was just thinking the same thing. Last couple of years at this time of the summer he has said no more buys and that's proved true. Saying we're still looking i am confident at least one more will come in.

still another month to go lads - apparently Sao Paolo lose 4mill on the Lucas deal if it goes beyond August 1st - so more room for optimism.

Lucas would be great

Lucas will know that he has more to gain long term from signing for us and getting an increase in wages than he does staying at Sao Paulo and getting 30% of any transfer fee.

And I'm sure Sao Paulo would rather a deal was done in July than in August because of the 10% increase next month.

Latest news coming out of Brazil is that we're expected to make an increased offer. All parties it would seem are definitely open to the idea of a deal happening.

All United really. really need is a new Scholes only 15 years younger....where from though....I dunno...all these would-be and might-be rumours are driving me nuts (and that`s easy to do anyway)
Vidic would be equal to a new signing opposed to last years squad and we have aquired Kag and POW!, That should improve matters, but the club are on the verge of losing Berbs, and the two senior citizens Schole & Giggs which don't help one bit.
