Danny Collins

@Fawaz_alhasawi: We just signed danny collins from stoke city and there is more

So you've seen him play once? Like I said, plenty of good players who haven't done well at Ipswich. He can't be any worse than Chambers last year

I have seen him probably 25+ times for Stoke, West Ham, Ipswich and Sunderland...added to that information from friends it does not bode well.

Suprisingly he is useless in possession which does not suit SOD style.

Really, so you've been following his career quite well to have seen him play 25 times. He's barely played that many games in 3 seasons. How did you manage this while living in Algeria?

My Stoke mate says he's not bad in central defence, but awful at left back where stoke played him. He thinks he'll do well at championship level! Here's hoping anyhow

"does not mean he is a good enough defender...underwhelming signing in my opinion."

I think I'll go with SOD's opinion on this one.

I wouldnt say I have followed his career, but I watch a lot of Championship + Premiership football as well as MOTD...so I have seen him a fair bit yeah.

Btw we do have internet in Algeria

Dont you think its odd Collins is extremley poor in possesion but SOD plays out from the back and on the deck?

You've seen him on telly, not live. Plenty of so called donkeys can learn to play the ball on the ground. But like you say, we'll see. Personally I think this looks like a decent signing

Collins is a rough and ready roll your sleeves up type with tonnes of experience exactly what we need. He may not be up too much as a full back that's understandable as he's in his 30's so he ll do the job as a centre back. We were competing against our rivals to get him so sounds like good old fashioned jealousy that we have him for a reported £500k fee that'll surpass Derbys entire summer spending budget

There's an assumption that just because he's the first defender we've signed, he'll be first choice in the team. Considering we need 5 more signings, hopefully he'll have to fight for a spot anyway.
