Ohhhh Snap! Alberto!

Alberto just snapped! He cleared up the air, he wants to stay, he always wanted to stay. Now the question is, why did Kenny wanted him to leave, after steller of a pre season last year, Kenny let him go and it was made to look like he was not settled in England.

“It’s a great move for Alberto," Dalglish said.

“He’s got his wife and kid over there. It was difficult for him here."

I love Kenny and have utmost respect for him but I think he was too hell bound on proving that he was right to buy Adam and Hendo!

I look forward to see Alberto this year.

Aqua is a good player and there not many about that will doubt his quality. However i think he wants a starting 11 spot which he does not deserve but needs to fight for it.

On a side note theres one thing i like about him is when he takes the ball in one direction and and then quickly switches and sprays the ball to the winger in the opposite direction in one swift movement
Elegance!

As it is, I don't really, but if he is in our squad after August 31st and gives his best and performs, that's all that matters

Amen to that

I prefer not to lap up what he's saying like a tramp on chips.

3rd April 2010:

"Rafael Benítez has shown the first signs of exasperation with Alberto Aquilani by suggesting the Liverpool midfielder's latest problem is not merely physical but psychological.

The Italy international has started only eight times for Liverpool since his ¤20m arrival from Roma and is sidelined with an ankle injury sustained in training on Wednesday. Aquilani has complained of discomfort in the same ankle that required surgery last May and which forced him to miss the first three months of this season, although scans have so far failed to identify the cause of the problem. Benítez admits he is at a loss as to when the 25-year-old will be fit but indicated that a history of injury problems is affecting Aquilani.

"He was complaining of pain in his ankle and said he couldn't train," the Liverpool manager said. "We will have to talk with the doctors to see what's going on because at the moment we don't know."

There are concerns that the Italian, ear-marked as the natural replacement for Xabi Alonso in a season that opened amid high expectation at Anfield, will be absent for the rest of this campaign should he undergo exploratory surgery. But Benítez said: "We don't know if he needs an operation. He has some pain and we will just analyse that with the doctor. It's the same ankle he did before. Some players maybe can manage with the pain, some players when they have pain cannot. When you talk of pain you never know, it depends on each individual and that makes it really difficult."

Cropped from a Guardian article... Rafa bought him in and said how excited Liverpool fans were going to be with him. His injuries consistently meant that he missed games, and when he did play, he started mostly off the bench. He won 4 MOTM awards in his first season. The hints started to be dropped towards the end of the season that he wanted to go back home.

In May 2010 (from Daily Fail but repeated elsewhere):

Reports suggested Reds boss Rafa Benitez was prepared to let Aquilani head back to Italy, with Fiorentina and Juventus touted as possible destinations.

But the player's representative Franco Zavaglia said: 'A return to Italy? I don't know anything, because Alberto is well in Liverpool.

'There is talk of Juventus and Fiorentina but the former have to define the structure of the club before thinking about the market.

'Equally, Fiorentina has the issue of (coach) Cesare Prandeli to resolve. 'Aquilani has recovered well from his ankle injury and for this reason I think Liverpool won't get rid of him.'

So he's not going anywhere... unless the two Italian clubs sort themselves out. Not exactly a definitive declaration of wanting to stay and play!

Woy then sent him on loan, and consistently the stories in the media both here and in Italy had his agent hawking him around any Italian club he could find. After making encouraging noises, Dalglish sent him back on loan because his heart wasn't in it. He played well in pre-season to try and get an Italian club interested.

In May this year Football Italia quoted his agent as saying:

"If he hadn’t have picked up an injury then he would have certainly made the 25 appearances necessary....That would have resolved a lot of the problems.

We still haven’t spoken to Milan and I think we will get a clearer understanding of the situation in about 10 days.

Alberto wants to stay in Milan, but he has two years left on his Liverpool contract and we’ll need to see what they think about it."

Hardly demonstrating a desire for Aquilani to come back to Anfield is he.

He's back with us because nobody was willing to buy him at the low price we put on him. He doesn't want to be here, the club isn't that bothered about keeping him. He may still yet go. Let's just hope that if he stays he plays well.

i've been saying for ages that he never wanted out, he just wanted to play. bench warmer under rafa, behind poulsen under roy, behind adam under kenny, he has every right to feel let down by the past managers.

also remember he owes us nothing other than what is in his contact. he's italian, and has no love for the club beyond being an employee. he's been messed around for the best part of 3 years and i can't blame him for asking his agent to look for alternatives for him.

hopefully now he'll be one of the first names on the team sheet on a regular basis.
