Successful Irish Trip

Well I know the opposition wasn't L1 class, but it was still good to have 3 wins with 19 goals. It showed that even though the games were easy the drive was there to play well and not conceed a goal. Its all too easy to let your standards slip when playing inferior sides.

As long as the team can bring this comitment and concentration into the League and Cup matches, I think they can achieve higher than my initial expectation of competing for a play-off place.

I was particularly pleased that the juniors came through so well (along with the trialists).

Starting to look forward to the new season now

What Irish teams did the Dons play?

Three of them, to be sure.

Arsenes,

It was St James Gate; Whitehall and the Bohemians Development Squad.

I don't beleive any of them are top Irish sides, but it was more the performance of the players that was pleasing

Big debate right now - consensus (amongst Dons fans) seems to be we should be in a good position to make the auto promo spots - still waiting 2 or 3 more signings, annd so far have not lost any of last years team - so a good base to start from.

What is less clear is who are likely to be the other top 6 contenders - non (or few) of us have listed Pompey or Coventry. Blades are likely to continue their challenge - then could be new boys Swindon, established Carlisle and Brentford, and maybe Preston who seem to have totally rebuilt their team. But really is a bit of a lottery. We think its will be our best chance to move up a league.

Was that tree games we played in Ireland?

I think MK Dons are getting to like Ireland, but you don't get any points for a good pre season and it was disappointing that Riordan left while the centre back didn't materialise (I guess he went & came back on the same plane).

We still need at least one quality forward. I know people say Lee Barnard is a bad egg and we can over egg that we are a family club bit, but I would like him on loan from Southampton if possible despite his problems (if not there must be a West Ham striker free).
