The Mid 2000's

These were the best times for football.

The days when Ronaldinho would do things with a ball that Messi today can only dream of.

The days when Andriy Shevchenko was to be feared like a monster.

The time when Real Madrid had the real galaticos: Zidane, Figo, Beckham... not the 'galaticos' they have today.

The fights between Patrick Viera and Roy Keane spicing up the best rivalry in the history of the premier league: Arsenal and Manchester United at their peaks. Those were real derbies, with real menace behind them.

The days of the Mighty Arsenal led by legends bringing home countless trophies, Dennis Bergkamp, Tony Adams, Thierry Henry.

The time when you'd be excited to watch the UEFA CUP! A match like Fiorentina vs Villareal would be seen as exciting, as two footballin cultures clashed in an epic display of talent, nowadays, not the same.

But most of all, the time when football was fun.

For football I wish I was born about 6 or 7 years earlier.

I've felt the same for a while now, I miss the likes of Nedved, Davids, Zidane, Figo etc

For your Nedveds, Davids, Zidanes, Figos of 10 years ago you have the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Ozil, Xavi etc.

Everyone always looks on the past with rose tinted glasses and the present with indifference.

I disagree. What Ronaldinho did with football was much different and better than Messi!

Personally I would say not mid-2000s, just early 2000's and the first half of that decade. After 2005 it got a bit sh/it.

While I agree the quality of the overall game has lowered a little since then, arsenal fans would probably look upon that era much more fondly as it was a point when they were a quite frankly more amazing team, whereas now, they have been stagnant and are less successful.

Not trying to have a dig, don't take it like that though.
