about this season or is it just me?!
Just not sure we have enough to make a top 6 challenge at present as Nige still hasn't addressed issues that have been on-going for a couple of seasons such as:
-Not hard man to sit in front of the back 4
-No creativity in midfield
-Not a lot of choice on the left wing - surely if we want to progress Dyer should only be used as an impact player
I also believe if Beckford leaves we are light up front too. Not his biggest fan but we don't play to his strenghts and still think he would do well for us this season. A big risk as it leaves Nugent as the only seasoned pro, unless someone else comes in, but please not Heskey!
Regardless of pre-season form etc I just think we need a couple of inspirational signings for us all - I like a team ethos which we didnt have last year but you need more than a lot of huff and puff!
Is anyone else slightly worried...

There is still no need to apologise, we all have different opinions and I am sure like 99.999...% of Leicester fans on here, you will still be getting behind the lads come the start of the season. At least you still have the glass in your hand!
IF, and it is still an ‘if’, we do sell Beckford, as I said, I would be more concerned with the creativity in our team from midfield. Re: Futacs, I think he is a replacement for Howard, which would have been made irrelevant of whether we had Beckford in our squad or not.
But yes, I am too a little concerned with the lack of experience with Vardy, Waghorn, Schlupp as partners for Nugent. But if Pearson does let Jermaine go and puts faith in the others, we will just have to wait and see how it pans out before we can make any judgement.
Earlier you mentioned that we already had the quality in our squad, perhaps Pearson feels the same and the majority of players he is looking to bring in are young, fresh talents to supplement this.
For all we know, he may have been trying to negotiate with some of the more experienced players available, and August is predominantly the busiest month for these sorts of transfers so guess we will have to discuss this again in a few weeks.
I’m not sure I understand the point about ‘shouting “who?!!!’ – is this to suggest we have lots of nobodies in our squad?, because I’m not sure I see any evidence of this – James and perhaps Futacs are probably unknown to most, but I can’t think of too many more, certainly not consistently through the squad.
But to be honest, what the opposition fans shout is the least of my concerns when I'm at a game.

@prawn
"Get rid before he does any more damage."

Let me think now, when was the last time a manager went in the month before the season started?
Oh yes, two years ago and we got: Paulo Sousa – that worked really well didn't it?
However bad you think NP is, it would be an unmitigated disaster if he went now, especially after all the managerial changes in our recent history. We need a bit of stability.
I don't think he's perfect, but I think (hope) he can do the job and get us at least into the play offs. Lets judge him at the end of the season, now he's had time to shape a squad the way he wants and not before the season even starts.

I'm quite excited about the new season ahead.
I'm excited about a prolific goalscorer - albeit he's come from non-league football. Excited about Ben Marshall in his first full season with us.
The 2 Man Utd reserves. Surely they must have some kind of potential to have been playing there?
We have a good goalkeeper..........very good and potentially a future "Great"?
A strong, established pro in David Nugent. Many teams in this division would love him in their side/squad.
Above all, we should have more than enough energy, hunger, desire and enthusiasm for this league?
I think we may surprise and be a very exciting side once we find our feet.
Another seasoned, skilful pro or 2 and we'll be complete!

playthepitch,
It's nice to see a good optimistic post.
"Another seasoned, skilful pro or 2 and we'll be complete!"
I think I'd feel more comfortable if we had a bit more quality and experience in midfield, but we shall see...

Im quite excited as well, was abit dissapointed with the game in the week but they are friendlies and we still have a few weeks till we get going for the season proper, and we have got an extra warm up game in the League cup so got plenty of games between now and peterborough to get more settled with each other.
I think we are all pretty much in agreement that we need an out and out left winger! and possibly a ball player in the middle, but would say we have got alot more centre mids than wide players
We can't judge whether Pearsons done a good job until I guess we have got to the same point in the season as Sven did?
I really hope it does work out because if we it doesn't we will just end up in another endless cycle of managers in and out and new group of players every season!

Pearson has put his neck on the block by bringing in some virtually untried players at this level.......with 1 or 2 at an expense. Credit to him and the scouting guys if he pulls it off because he knows he will be out if it fails or falls short quickly.
You have to say he's been brave with the recruits so far.
He's seen good positives to go down this route surely?
These players owe the club for this chance, including Martyn Waghorn who is desperate to prove his worth i'm sure.

I'm worried that when we get promoted under Pearson I'll struggle to get tickets again in the Premiership!!!

Thats what I think playthepitch,
He has brought in a lot of lads who have still got alot to prove and will all want to get up there to the prem!
compared to the mercenaries we had last year!

No I'm not we will at least make the play-offs

Of course you are right Vulpes. My frustration got the better of me but that said, I still do not think Peaeson will get us into the play-offs.
With these speculative signings and his approach to St Ledger, Mills and now Beckford, he has put his neck on the block. If we are not in the top six by the beginning of November, I suspect he will get the chop.
