It has been announced today that the Rugby Football League is looking for new sponsers for next season, the partnership with Eddie Stobart has proved to be a rather short one.

I always thought it was a strange sort of deal, but with luck any new deal will be worth at least £1Million and a half a year.

Strange bedfellows it had to be said, although I have no doubt the RFL will find a new sponsor for 2012/13 soon enough.
It hasn't been a good year for the RFL board though has it! Mired with the ongoing problems with what to do with Bradford Bulls; the controversial subject of promotion & relegation; the standard of refereeing in the SL; the credibility of the MM weekend in terms of where best to host it and when; of high tackles, especially with the shoulder; of how they still continue to support the London Broncos - even though most people know they would be better off flogging a dead horse!
I very much enjoy Super League on Sky Sports (even though I really can't stand Laure & Hardy in the comms box); but it still doesn't compare to the NRL in terms of action & atmosphere - there is still something lacking in SL in order to give it that accessibility to a larger audience. Perhaps casual viewers take one look at some of those crumbling stadia and think "Is this supposed to be the best of rugby league!!??" and quickly flick over to Union again.
Sorry, I seem to have gone off on a tangent!

If you compare league and union teams stadium to stadium I bet league have the better grounds overall....

I can't think of a time when we had so many very good stadiums. Dare i say it, and the reason is i think is licensing.
