Understanding FSG

Was just on the bbc website and saw this table:
(scroll to bottom of link, not concerned by Glazers!)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19061040

How can we justify spending £45,000,000 a year more than Spurs on wages?! How can our operating profit in fact be a loss given our total revenue?!

These are the issues FSG are quite rightly addressing, by selling ineffective high earners. They are not 'asset-stripping', they are doing what any sensible group of people would do, if they were in charge of an organisation with unsustainable costs. So come on people, you don't have view them as our saviours, but at least put some level of trust in them not to be out to screw our great club over!

Shortlight
I think I understand what your concern is now, and I'm not sure we disagree too much..FSG aren't the angel investors that every football fan prays for, however, they are good businessmen with a track record of success, so they deserve the fan's support-in my opinion! Anything else is counter productive, until you get to an H & G situation.

Value for money indeed.

I think this is why we are taking a bit longer on signings this summer.

We are negotiating hard, something we obviously failed to do last summer as we overpaid for a few players.

Rodgers is trying to get good deals for Dempsey and Allen, knowing the sellers won't want unsettled players around for too long (the same as Newcastle are doing with Carroll from us).

Last season it came across like we enquired about a player, got told the price, and just said here you go then. A more studious approach could have saved the club £10m.

I bet if they hadn't sacked Dalglish, you would be on here telling us all that time is needed and we're not true fans.

Your a hypocrite!

I said from the day he was appointed that Rodgers needs time and patience. Time and patience that wasn't afforded to his predecessor.
That doesn't make me a hypocrite. Quite the opposite.

By the way, I've said from the day Rodgers was

I've always been skeptical of FSG and nothing they've done has given me any reason to believe we'll achieve long-term success under their stewardship. They'll steady the ship financially, which is great, but they'll never deliver us what we crave - the league title.
--------------------------------------------------------

You mean they're not Oligarchs or Sheikhs prepared to throw hundreds of £M's at it 'for love'?

Instead they're businessmen, interested in improving a business & then making a return.

There's nothing worng with the latter imo, the former has distorted football & made it impossible even for the biggest, best run clubs to compete on an even footing - as the former aren't run as businesses.

If you want the best example of what spending unsustainable money can do, just look at Pompey - it delivered the FA Cup & then 4 years later, after being bankrupt twice in 2 years, has ultimately delivered, almost certain liquidation.

Running a sustainable club is what every owner has a duty to do imho, & it's time that the law makers in the game recognised that basic fundamental & put some real teeth & intent into forcing clubs to operate within their means.

TOBES.

Granted.

I'm all for the club being financially sustainable etc etc, but the harsh reality of the Premier League is: If you want to win it you've got to pay for it.

The lawmakers have recognised the need for clubs to operate within their means. That's what FFP is all about. Unfortunately, clubs like Chelsea, City and PSG are probably going to simply ignore it and carry on regardless - in that scenario FSG will have no option but to sell.

I'm amazed at some of the comments on here. FSG are in the process of moving on players who are paid more, in their opinion, than the value of their performances on the pitch.

They're also moving on players who are on high wages but don't really want to be here for whatever reason (no judgements being made), i.e. Maxi & Aqua.

They're also working hard to ensure all income streams are maximised and new opportunities taken to allow the club to compete within the market place.

I genuinely fail to see how any of this is bad! Ok, if they do all of this AND there is no reinvestment in the playing squad then maybe we, as fans, have a right to ask questions. Give them a chance though, all they're doing to bringing a little sanity back to the club.

Wow our revenue is a good sign, no european football, no huge stadium!

Imagine - trimmed wage bill sor we can start again, this time with control and method in player salaries.

Imagine - A bigger gate revenue

Imagine - European football

After so many years we are still of the most iconic clubs around with global support forever being our backbone!

Agree. They are improving revenue whist reducing costs. Business 101. Some of our fans (Fred and Agger) live in cloud cuckoo land! They should turn off the Xbox and get real!
