they win the league?I know it will sound a bit premature but with those 2 signings they would be 3rd favourites to win the league behind the 2 Manchester teams. Lets face it Chelsea hit a new low in terms of performance last season. Under both AVB and RDM they never looked like going and only individual performances from great players pulled them together. In my opinion Liverpool as a team played better than Chelsea.
They have signed some excellent players as I think Hazard is a really good player but beyond that I still think they lack a focal point and would reasonably need time to gel and create a new identity in midfield and attack. drogba and Lampard carried the Chelsea attack for a good 5 years and its not easy to replace those kind of players in a single cycle.
Arsenal have a decent 1st team, obviously when you take Robin out it weakens them to a great degree but with the 4 signings I think they will realistically gel faster and win more games than Chelsea.
Last season Arsenal improved greatly away from home and its only the draws and defeats at home that put them further away from the Manchester teams. The steel in players like Vermalean, Kolcienley and Song allowed them to be less dominant but opportunistic away from home especially realizing how inferior they had become as compared to Arsenal teams of the past.
I believe this will continue this season and with players like Carzola and Podolski home games could be easier to win.
Podolski is an excellent player at home, through out his career at Koln he has single handedly won Koln games at home against strong opposition.
Even if Arsenal improve their points tally the 2 Manchester’s have to drop their level a bit to allow them a chance. I think because City will have one eye on the champions league their domestic form will realistically suffer, united are rightfully favourites as they will seek to retain the league but the same old soft center exists. Kagawa will improve things but he is more like an upgrade to Nani, nothing that addresses the lack of muscle in the center. Their full back and goalkeeper situation is still dicey it’s plausible they will drop points along the way.
Arsenal have always had a decent 1st team but when winter sets in and the games pile up at the turn of the new year they always struggle due to a thin squad. This time with additional quality players I think its possible they could win the league and surprise the 2 manchesters! If van Persie sees out his contract this Arsenal team will be even stronger.
How they will lineup is anyones guess but Wenger has been there and done this before it might happen!
If Arsenal sign Carzola and Sahin can

Ok, let me elaborate. It's not the attacking
signings we make that'll define our league
position, but the defensive issues we had last
year and the many years before that.
If we defend like we've done for the past 3
years, we can kiss goodbye to any notion of
titles or trophies.

I agree with you fellas about how we defend.watching pre season doesnt give much confidence. But thats what it is pre season.
All Im saying is we are 3rd favourites in my opinion and if City and united falter like they possibly can who knows we are definitely in with a chance.
If van Persie sees out his contract like I think he might then I think its very much possible.

I don't think we could win the title, we still don't quite have enough strength in depth in defence or experience.
However if we can keep Sagna, Kos and 1 out of Vermaelen and Mertesacker fit (i.e. No long-term injuries) and we sign Cazorla and Sahin I don't see why we couldn't mount a decent challenge. A couple of seasons ago we challenged but our lack of mental strength and the fact that we had Vermaelen out all season halted our challenge. I think this is a much tougher team with greater experience and leadership than that team.

Let not forget how much the Ski have spent and are looking to improve, Oscar, Hazard, and Hulk rumoured (their Cazorla). Watching the little of Hazard in pre-season, am impressed, which is rather worrying.

My memory isn't great but won't it be City who will want to retain the league title?

Expect Song to be sold and Fernando to come in as his replacement.
A midfield of
---------- Fernando
---- Wilshere -- Cazorla
will be the best in europe.
