Cricket is the least skillful game. Anyone with less than average technique could become a world class player. Anyone who can stand 8 hours in crease could become a great batsman.

I bet half of you haven't even played the game at any level, whether it's at mickey mouse level or at the top. You have to play it to understand. Least skillfull, no fitness required, my backside!!!

you do have to be an athlete to play cricket at the highest level, the days where someone like inzamam-ul-haq can waddle around and still be a star are gone.
my dad still plays at 63 and there are a few, ahem, veterans in the team i play for, so you don't need to be an athlete to play village cricket. but you won't find many test players these days who aren't superb athletes

I really, really, really hope he does not go pro right now.
He still has so much to learn, he should keep amateur but look to go pro in a couple of years, maybe even four if he wants another olympics.
He is just too raw at the moment to be a real contender at heavyweight

First of congratulation for the big man
You are right Matty but we all know Frank Warren, Eddie Hearn and even someone like Golden Boy will come knocking cos they can make instant millions on this boy. He does still look raw but the amatuer game will not be able to offer him those pro contracts that will come knocking.
Still if he goes pro and takes it step by step he could come close to a world title shot by the time he's 25/26. Look at David Price after 4 years and still has not had a world title shot but has been nutured and looks ready for the big time.
