if we are going to get into the top four this season we have to sign some quality players. man city, united and chelsea now are guaranteed top four. that means its between us, spurs and arsenal for that last spot. spurs don't have a striker and could lose modric still so they are not as strong as last year at this time. (this could change obviously) arsenal are making some great signings. already they have giroud and podolski and now they are close to adding santi cazorla and nuri sahin who are both top quality players. meanwhile we have signed an unproven striker in borini and are close to signing an unproven midfielder in joe allen. borini i can understand, but joe allen. he's a good player but in my opinion £15million could be better spent elsewhere. gaston ramirez could be bought for that. we saw last night that he can play in the central midfield role and we know also that he can play in the front three.
if we are going to get into the top four, we must start signing quality not potential. we bought lots of potential last year and look how that turned out.
we need to get a move on

You state Ramirez proved he could play in the CM role last night and then criticise the possible signing of Allen?
Allen ran the midfield last night and GB had 70% possesion at one point, did you watch the game?
I would welcome both here.

ramirez can play in more positions, he has a more all-round game. he could be the key to keeping suarez at the club and most importantly, he is a match winner. allen is not a match winner. don't get me wrong he's a good player and like you i'd gladly have them both here. but if its a case of either or (which it appears to be) then ramirez wins it hands down for me

allen is not a match winner

You're right - in no way did Allen contribute to Team GB's winning goal against Uruguay yesterday. Great spot

true enough mate - personally 15m is a tad heavy for Allen, but he would improve your team imho.
Can't see him going for much less - but a talent none the less
