Sturidge you could learn from this lad

One thing Sturridge has done is score goals, even when played out of position.

By that logic we should buy Darren Bent

I bet Darren Bent would have done better then Flopess over the last 1.5 seasons with us.

I don't know, I doubt many strikers would have done worse then Torres over the last few years at Chelsea. I did not buy into "we don't play the Torres way" that everyone likes to bring up as an excuse for his bad form. I saw him have many chances, many 1 on 1s and still flopped, however he has no excuse now. The team is set up to his advantage supposedly.

Since Torres signed, how many goals has Drogba scored? In the last two full seasons, how many goals have our frontman racked up in camparison with other teams?
We've had a creativity problem for 24 months now, which obviously effects the supply lines for the strikers. Now that's been dealt with.

Bent scored for Villa. Did they have better creativity than us? Would any of their midfielders start for us?

We weren't creating chance after chance but Drogba and Torres were just quite average in all honesty for the majority.

I think we clearly saw Drogba only being motivated for the big games over the last couple of years, apart from the big games, he has been average.
Yet we had a striker playing as a winger and outscoring the strikers our team in the Premier league, and also played as a striker at Bolton and scored quite a few there as well.
He more then deserves a chance upfront for us, and I don't blame him in showing his frustration to play upfront for us. Like I said football is a short career, what's the point in wasting playing as a back up player out of position.

Up until last season, when Bent's form starting dipping, Villa had the next best thing. A real wing threat from both sides of the pitch. Much easier as a poacher when the defence is being dragged consistently away from the goalmouth.
The shots to goals average of most strikers is actually quite surprising when you really look into it. Most rarely reach 50% over any five game stretch unless they're confidence is soaring, or they're anomalies like Messi. Sturridge's shots to goals ratio is dreadul. But my point is, for anyone to expect any striker to be knocking them in with some kind of regularity, the midfield needs to be peppering the opposition defence all game long - not passing sideways with 2/3 sec intervals inbetween passes before a realistic shotting opportunity is presented a good 7/8 minutes since the last.

Sturridge shots to goal ratio is dreadful from the wing, a lot of the time he cuts in a and shoots from outside the box. So there is a higher chance of him not scoring then say Torres who is in the box, and has had a few 1 on 1s and other opportunities in the box, where he either scuffed it or just took too long.
We will see next season anyway. No problem creating with Marin, Oscar, Hazard, and Mata. We desperately need him to do well, if not Sturridge will step up.
