Rodgers looking to loan big stars

Rodgers speaking to The Guardian, did confirm he had looked at some players to bring in on loan, and noted they were of high calibre “I have also looked at one or two loan deals from abroad. There are some quality players I have enquired about." This sparked rumours that Ibrahim Afellay may also be on Rodgers’ radar.

I reckon he's looking for players that would get to push for top 4 (even though I don't think we'll make it this season).
So who do you think he's looking to bring in on loan?

I can't remember a player ever being on loan with us - can anyone else?

of course. Don't know how I forgot that, we should have kept him.

We also had Paul Jones the goalkeeper on loan at one point didn't we?

Those players still want to be playing champions league football and more than likely won't leave the sunny climate of Spain to come here!
-------------------------------

not all will be included in the champions league squads. some may feel forgotten about and playing regularly might put them in the proverbial shop window for a new champions league team to come knocking.

teams may be willing to loan out top young talent who can't break into the first teams of the likes of barcelona etc.

there are a number of reasons why we should consider loan signings if improvements are available.

Anelka was a donkey for us. Based on his performances he should have been punted with extreme prejudice.

In hindsight though, keeping him would have been good.

Loaning would be a perfect idea, maybe his past relationship will help get someone from real. Higuian

Loan deals may be a good way for us to attract players who are ideally looking for CL football.

They might want to see how we do before committing to a move, so a loan deal allows both parties to have a look at each other.

We can say 'come to us for a year, if we make the CL then we can look at making it permanent, if we don't then you have only lost 1 season and can join a club who are in the CL.'
