England Strikers vs Switzerland

Listening to Sky Sports and reading vatious websites the view on the England strikers goes along the lines of

"Crouch and Defoe in no form at all, Mark Hughes says Bobby Zamora is not match fit and only Darren Bent has scored any goals"

For a one off game that England have to win why oh why has SKD not been picked, the premier league's own stats say he has created more scoring chances for his team mates than any other player and on top of that he has scored more than Defoe and Crouch added togther. No one is suggesting SKD is the future but for a game next week that we need to get the points surely he would have been the common sense football choice.

I think England will probably go 4-3-3.

I remember when SKD was first called up he was playing really good. Got a misely 20 minutes on the pitch. After that England match he was still playing really good when Capello decided in his wisdom to drop him. At that time he was a player on form and should have been picked in the next England sqaud if Capello was picking players on form. Sadly I think that time has now gone for SKD as his form in the second half on the season has not been as good. But of course I would still pick him, but looks like his England career is well and truly over. Capello showed a total lack of respect for SKD dropping him like that I thought.

Problem is, there are hardly any good English strikers that actually start games for their clubs. Kevin Davies isn't good enough for England IMO.

If you look through all the prem teams and think about which strikers are good enough for England, that normally start for their clubs, you would struggle

To be honest if Peter Crouch keeps being picked for England then SKD should. Crouch`s England goals have all been against poor teams, not in major tournaments, which makes his England goal per game ratio look outstanding.

Should give Sturridge a game. Good enough for me he meets the Capello criteria of in form !

I'd say sturridge should get a shot ahead of kevin davies.

as much as davies is in form, he's coming towards the end of his career, whereas sturridge has years ahead of him. years in which he could be very effective for england.

Unfortunately, davies age will act against him, as these friendlies are all about preparing for competitive games in the future.

Obviously Capello picks on reputation as Rooney had been awful for over a year but still got the 1st England striker spot. Form means nothing to Capello.

How does this sound for an idea for the starting line-up for England attack.

Young on one wing, Walcott on the other, Wilshire and A. Nother in the middle and then Super Kevin Davies and Sturridge up top.

Oh and Cahill in defence of course.
