I read an article in the Sun (i know :/) saying he did some light training last week! If this is true it would be great news and we will need to see if he can comeback the same player he was before this illness was diagnosed. We miss his workrate and bite in midfield. Is this yet another reason Fergie is reluctant to sign a midfielder?

Good news if true. But as you know, The Current Bun isn't worth the time!

The thing about his illness is that its intermittent. He may be symptom-free right now, but another episode could be right around the corner and he'll be out for months again.
So no, this is not the reason we are not buying a CM, and Fletcher will most likely not be the same player.

I have just come across this article on Russell Martin a player who has the same illness as Fletcher. He may not come back the same player but there is hope he will atleast make a comeback.

From what I know of this illness (very very little) it can recurr at any time but it also affects different individuals with varying levels of severity. So there is a glimmer of hope that he could come back as good as ever I guess. It's clutching at straws a little I guess but Fletcher comes across as a genuinely good guy and a great professional and it would be a really great story as much as anything else at a time when there have been a lot of unsavory incidents and stories in English football.

That's good news for Darren if he's back in training because it at least shows he's getting better but as others have pointed out, it might not be the end of it.
I personally can never see him returning to the level he once played at when he was at the top his game and that's a real shame because he's was a very good player when on form and a player we could really do with having in the squad right now.
