Apologies IF it is off-topic. The other day I was returning home on tube before the dusk ,listening to music and eating walker's crisps then I looked over my shoulder, I saw a group of Asian men with grim faces. They all look tired, hopeless and I can see a lot despair in their eyes. Being a gentleman, I inquired what's the reason behind ? They said their team lost in Hockey at the Olympics. I also felt sorry for them. They look like die-hard for this sport.
Then I came home and Googled 'field hockey'. I found quite interesting things about this game. Asian countries were dominating in this sport before 1990's and won many gold medals at the Olympics, contributed a lot to this sport by inventing different dribbling techniques. There were some conflicting reports are about the real reasons for the demise of this beautiful game from Asian countries is due to the "Emergence of Five-day Sport" .
If it is true then I really SORRY for those die-hard fans..
Demise of great game

mafia boy. sum it up for me. hockey fans from asian countries feel that their hockey teams are now less successful because of an increased popularity in cricket?
is that correct?

Whether it's India, Pakistan or British India, the truth is, failure to produce glory in this great game has been diminished since the emergence of FIVE day sport : According to some of the reports.
