Please let this be true....

QPR and West Ham in battle to sign Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas
The Spurs midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, is set to decide between the two Premier League rivals in the next 10 days

No atrocious treatment here - just an honest assessment of a decent (no more) player who wouldn't attract many( if any) bidders in the top 10 and certainly not any with CL aspirations. Would I have him as an emergency back up player? Probably, if he was free and didnt take a 25 place. Is he value as 5th choice for probably £2m per year? Not for me. Get rid, spend the money on a player who can control a game and pass the ball better

------

What, you want a player that can dictate midfields and will sit on the bench as 5 th choice for less then £2m a year?

Good luck with that.

For every one of those games there is probably two like Hull/Sunderland at home at the start of 2008/09 when he was poor when we needed somebody to control the midfield. He's Corluka or Kranjcar - decent players but time to move on

No, I dont think we'll get a fifth choice CM for 2m a year to do those things. You use the 2m you paid the 5th choice towards somebody who can challenge to be first choice and improve the side overall.

thats the thing.

people have a go at jenas because hes not great... and early in his career he promised so much more....

however i am yet to EVER be told someone who we could get better than him, willing to be 5th choice cm....

the counter debate is that as he wont play much, then it might be better to promote a young lad like carroll....

that argument holds some value, but jenas has still been poorly treated and i used to regularly argue with fans during games when they complain at him for misplacing a pass, when all our players misplaced passes.

is it any wonder that he started passing sideways and back given that the crowd were on his back any time he misplaced a pass.

spurs fans get on my nerves sometimes.

I sit in the Park Lane lower myself by the way - I wouldn't exactly use it as a badge of honour when you hear the reactionary b******s a fair whack of them spout

As I said - you don't use the money to buy a 5th choice CM, it goes towards somebody to challenge the first choice boys. The old 3rd/4th choice may then be 5th choice, and the squad is strengthened overall. That's evolution of squad

Jenas definitely gets more stick from the fans than he deserves. I guess it is because he promised so much early in his career.

I am not even suggesting he is a superb player. He is an honest player who works hard and has always kept going when he wears the shirt. For that, he deserves a tad more respect.

In a way, I'd love him to move on and excel with fans that will give him a chance.

Every one of our players deserves respect, it goes without saying.

I don't want him to leave particularly but let's be realistic - he's 29 and he only played a handful of games last season. He deserves to finish his career on the pitch and we can't honestly say we need him.
