It seems that there was some organised violence in Lincoln on Saturday after all.

http://www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/article.asp?aid=14774&iid=306&sud=1922

Who on earth are these people and how disappointing that they've been allowed to sully the name of our club.

People are dying fighting for human rights in Syria and around the world and these people decide a friendly match between Leicester and Lincoln is a worthy cause.

Get a grip!

I'm just left with an overwhelming question? Who, and why???????

Blimey - the plot thickens!

Surely the club wouldn't have made this up...

... would they?!!

I reserve judgement...I wasn't there..there is an old saying..A lie can be halfway around the world before the truth has got its boots on..

The article states ".. a large number of people from Leicester and Lincoln gathering in the city centre on Saturday afternoon, requiring Lincolnshire Police to have a large presence."

From the Lincolnshire Echo (Aug 6) ...

"Police arrested three football 'fans' after two large groups of known trouble makers were present in Lincoln City centre from Lincoln and Leicester.

Tables and chairs were used as weapons as rival supporters clashed in an incident on Guildhall Street at around 4:45pm."

At the least the word fans was in quotes

One the idiots that perpertrate this shoud be made to stand on the site of Filbert street ground as a throw back to the bad old days during match days.
Also shows the its cant be us as "we never do anything wrong" brigade up.
Also shows that the first people that get blamed is the the police rather than the potential perp's
Finnaly True you did not blame Sven for this one mate?

Tongue in cheek

I take your point Nev - I genuinely couldn't believe it initially and felt that the police had made my club look bad with a provocative statement.

Clearly I was wrong and there were some very sad individuals dragging our club's name trough the dirt.

It saddens me deeply and hope that the 99.9% of true fans don't get tarred by this.

Leicester Mercury have also reported the problems in Lincoln on Saturday:

"Gangs of rival football fans fought running battles in Lincoln city centre after a friendly match with Leicester City was called off.

Chairs and tables from a coffee shop were flung around a street during one of several skirmishes that broke out in the city on Saturday afternoon.

Officers confirmed that two men from Leicester were given on-the-spot fines for public order offences following the trouble.

Seven people in total were ordered by police to leave the city centre.

Police are also investigating an allegation that a steward on a train carrying Leicester City fans was assaulted.

Scores of fans had travelled from Leicester to Lincoln despite the friendly match with the Vauxhall Conference side being called off.

Lincolnshire police asked for the game to be called off after receiving intelligence that people were planning to travel to Lincoln with the intention of causing serious disorder in the city.

Sarah Coldron, manager of Kodak Express in Lincoln's Guildhall Street, witnessed some of the trouble on Saturday.

She said: "We looked up and saw around eight or nine lads flinging tables and chairs around in the street.

"The police came running down the street just as I was about to call them and about five minutes later they had three guys in handcuffs and put them in the riot van.

"It just came out of nowhere. It was quite scary and not something you expect to see in Lincoln.

"It's just mindless thugs with nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon."

Lincolnshire police said a small number of officers managed to keep the two groups of rival fans apart.

Officers escorted the Leicester fans to the railway station, where there was more trouble.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called after the emergency cord on a train carrying Leicester fans was pulled just outside the station.

A female guard on board the 18.34 service, which was halted, was assaulted.

Police lined the tracks while the train made its way back to the station.

The 80 Leicester fans on board were transferred on to the 19.35pm service to Nottingham.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the alleged assault.

A BTP spokeswoman said: "Following the emergency cord activation, the train suffered damage to its brakes and had to return to the station."

A Lincolnshire police spokeswoman said: "Throughout the day a total of seven dispersal notices were issued to males from both Lincoln and Leicester, instructing them to leave the city centre.

"A further arrest was made of a Leicester male for being drunk and disorderly at Lincoln train station."

Another man from Leicester, arrested on suspicion of causing a breach of the peace, was allowed to go with no further action.

The match was eventually played behind closed doors at the King Power Stadium, with Leicester running out 5-0 winners.

Lincoln City say the cancellation of the fixture at its Sincil Bank ground had cost them about £30,000."

I note,no arrests from the train "incident"... from the new article, surely it would of been better to of staged the game rather than allow more drinking time for the idiots?banning the match appears not of achieved anything other than displace any problems to the city centre.and cost loncoln a lot of money.

John.
How does that work you had limited trouble by a few who will be found banned and tried. Or you let a nothing match go ahead and risk drawing further idiots to join in ?
