Graeme Swann

Is it just me who doesn't thnik leaving out Swann was such a big deal?

Although the preverbial joker/funny man I've seen a lot of whinging from Swann lately on the field and cursing of his teamates which I'm not a fan of.

What I would like to see is his performances do more of the talking. 13 wickets in his last 13 innings isn't exactly impressive from the former world number one spinner. He has not looked very threatening, nor at times pressure building. His batting has dwindled, from a man who has opened in county cricket I don't feel he gives as much with the bat as he could, always playing the lose or reckless shot thats not needed.

I think he needs to stop moaning and pull his finger out, hopefully the exclusion in the test might be the catalyst to a new improved Swann.

the pitches havent been helpful either. If u go back to last 4 tests, the pitches which england have got, even the pacers have struggled. Remember WI wasnt as easy as the scoreline suggests. the bowlers had to work their a** off.
And all bowlers need to be given that break. You cannot always expect bowlers to pick wickets every innings they bowl.
If batsman can get that break, then why is bowlers any different?

Not a huge deal for Headingley but generally still the man for me.

I dont think SA would have taken the risks they took against KP if it had been Swan. No Big deal the ball wasnt spinning much.

on that track...probably not.....

this elbow problem is obviously an issue....which is looking like needing surgery again....but when....!?

if he needs surgery have it done now.ashes next summer.im sure monty and tredwell can stand in for him or even kerrigan in the meantime.what did happen to rashid by the way?thinking of ringing the forgotton persons bureau to find out.

benny the adil rashid saga is a confusing one and for me disappointing as he is a fellow british pakistani. i feel that the hype surrounding him because he was adept at bowling the art of legspin was too big a catalyst in his professional career. now he is struggling to break into the yorkshire side but with a 5-fer earlier this week i hope he has a strong finish to the season.

in his favour is the fact that he is still young so as spinners mature later and can play for longer than seamers he may still have a crack at international cricket somewhere down the line and he can also bat which always favours the england selectors.

back to the swann issue, whatever the reason elbow injury or not, he has been poor of late and for some time now. for me if say panesar was in his situation he would have been dropped by now but swann for whatever reason is still the main spinner.

panesar is a much better bowler, consistently performs for sussex, when called upon for england against pakistan, constantly outperformed swann but still doesn't get a look in.

If we ever pick Panesar ahead of Swann then I will find another team to support. Panesar is an average international bowler who can't bat, can't field, can't catch and I don't want him anywhere near my beloved England team.

Swann will be back in the last test and that suits me fine Sir
