T******e 1-3 Wanderers match thread

Were you there? Were you one of the 30,217 in attendance at Wembley Stadium on June 1st, 1991? Did you witness that [attractive and world class centre forward] Chris Malkin's offside extra time goal for Tranmere that left Wanderers in the third division for another season? I was 13 years old that day and it was the worst day of my life up until that point. [sentence removed by author].

Which is why I expect a win tonight for the boys in tonight's friendly. Make no mistake, their [adjectives removed] fans [clause removed], because in the 20 years which followed that day, we left them trailing in our wake, like a [extended metaphor removed].

Now I've got that out of the way, a little bit about Tranmere. It is a [noun removed] consisting entirely of industrial buildings and Victorian housing.[Sentence removed]. Of a weekend, hoards of [Tranmere fans] filter out of these dwellings, and head towards Prenton Park, much like [simile removed].

Tranmere is a [adjective removed] place and home to the last remaining cinema organist in the UK. So if you fancy watching The Dark Knight Rises while some [lovely old bloke] bashes away at a nineteenth century organ, Tranmere is the place to go.

Tonight, Wanderers will be playing in their new limited edition third kit. It is grey, with red details, rather fitting for a visit to Tranmere.

Latest score (7.30pm kick off)

Tranmere 0-3 Wanderers
Afobe 50 - Tranmere defender plays it onto his chest and he lashes it in.
Afobe 74 - powers home a header from Eagles free kick.

? 90 - scrambled goal from a corner for Tranmere.

That last away hatrick was Nathan Blake @ Hartlepool in the cup in 1998 largehat.

I went tonight, 'bout 200 of us. Still a 5hithole.

Tranmere were shocking but you can only beat what's in front of you.

Sordell gets knocked off the ball far too easily for all his good running.

Pratley and Alonso just aren't good enough.

Chungy & KD played well as did Knight, Ream & Riley. Mavis was just Mavis.

Eagles is a greedy git.

Great hatrick for Afobe, but to be fair, we had been creating similar chances all the first half for Sordell.

Just hope Owen Coyle doesn't cream too much over this result and tell us all everything is OK

it would make no sense at all to sell mavies. if the club do have ambition to go up 1st time then why sell one of the very few players we have who is good enough to play at premier league level.fair enough if we fail miserably sell next summer.

As soon as they sell joe Allen the bid will go up apparently!

Swansea can do one if they think they can get mavies for £4m. It needs to be enough to buy an adequate replacement and a striker. How much would Afobe cost now? Rather than wait for him to be a revalation and then lose him like Sturridge. Now a bid has been made we need to find his replacement which will be obviously cheaper sign him then sell. If we get £7m then we will be held to ransom

I've said the same thing on the Mavies thread Petrov Too many negatives and not enough positives to sell at this time! Ok if the offer us £15mil then cool, I'd think about it, but the rewards of getting back to the Prem is £50mil+, and this is a player that could thrive in this division.

Would take £6M and I think we'll get more. That kind of money will get us a decent DM and Mavies replacement. If we get someone much more consistent then Davies if not less spectacular then we've improved imo.

The only time I want us to win a pre-season match like it's a normal league match is when we play that lot.

I missed the play off final even though I had a ticket coz I'd forgotten I'd put my name down for some school trip,(I was 11), I was gutted as I couldn't get out of it. Not as gutted as when someone told us the score later that day.

Have they still got that racist club commentator over there as well? Granada seemed to be all over the him with praise at one point completley ignoring the fact that Dave Higson had been better than him for years.
