I'd just like to congratulate England on having a better football team than Uruguay, Portugal, Italy, Argentina, Holland, Brazil and France. Or at least FIFA would.

I would say that you couldn't make it up but someone somewhere clearly has. In what universe are England the third best team in the World? Even more maddeningly, in what universe are Brazil only 13th, and supposedly worse than Croatia and Greece?
A quick message...

Looking through our results over the last couple of years though we've won and drawn most of our games, so though we're cack it's no surprise our coefficient is high.

It's pretty simple, if you win competitive games you move up, if you don't (including not playing any), then you move down.
We will a lot of competitive games, compared to how many we don't win.
Brazil are not playing any competitive games, not ther fault, but no team should be high in the world rankings based on friendlies alone, so it seems fair enough to me.
You can't base world rankings on subjective opinion of who is better.
Results over time are rightly the only thing taken into account, and though we may well be more like 15th in the world in most peoples reality, our results rightly have us much higher.

Is it because they count friendlies as competetive games? Because we have a brilliant record in friendlies and even in qualifying, its just when it comes to the knock out stages.
We sunk spain 1-0 etc so if they are we rarely lose, where as france etc didnt win a friendly for a while before the tourney.

Friendly matches do count, but you get less ranking points for winning them.
Tournament matches win you the most ranking points, then qualifiers, then friendlies.
We have a great record in qualifiers in recent years (won 9 of 10 games for 2010, 5 of 8 games for 2012), so obviously 14 wins in 18 games is going to get you a lot of ranking points.
Our tournament record is also not that bad, we have only lost 1 game in the last 2 tournaments, the defeat to Germany in 2010. We still get ranking points for losing on pens to Italy, just not as many as had we beat them. If we had lost to them in the match we would get no ranking points.
Its all very complicated, but the bottom line is if you win matches you will be high in the rankings, as long as the majority are competitive matches.
Winning friendlies alone will not get you a good ranking, which is why Brazil are so low currently, because everyone else is playing Euro /World Cup qualifiers and they are just playing friendlies.
