Transfer affairs...

Something I find strange is that all of a sudden we are conducting our business in public, Lucas Moura, RVP, last summer Schneider.
Previously we went about our business very quietly announcing Anderson,Nani buys out of the blue, Ronaldo too. Now SAF has started commenting a lot about players, value in the market etc.
I am wondering if in fact we are ever really in the market for the players that get mentioned. Are us supporters getting the wool pulled over out eyes. being led to believe we are signing so called mega stars and getting us all excited and worked up into a crescendo before the window closes in just 3 weeks.
Personally I don't see us buying more than a left back now.
Witsel would be a great buy but I doubt we are in at all for him.

Sao Paulo and Arsenal both confirmed we had made offers. The clubs themselves, not just sources.

We had no choice. Fergie said tonight we prefer to keep things close to the chest until it's done.

True I guess Stretford.. do you think if we do actually get RVP this could eventually be the line up ? I suspect Kigawa will be eased in and Young or Nani will initially play left

Rafael Rio Vidic Evra

I was full of optimism and hope 24 hours ago, now I am filled with dread and anger. Having missed out on Lucas and Hazard because we haven't offered player and then club enough money, we are now expecting Arsenal to cave in and sell to us.

I see where this is heading. We will sit on our hands until Van Persie forces a move or City come in with big money for both Arsenal and RVP. Sadly I predict the latter.

If Sir Alex thought we needed to strengthen the attack to the tune of Kagawa and Hazard/Lucas/RVP and we go into the season with just Kagawa, that means that Ferguson doesn't have the squad he wants, and that makes me worried.

City have Tevez, Aguero, Ballotelli and Dzeko. They will not buy Van Persie!

If Dzeko is sold, Man City will buy Van Persie.

I doubt it. They have Guidetti who is a brilliant young striker they also want to bring through. He had an amazing scoring record at Feyenoord on loan last season.

And City are trying to adhere to the FFP this summer and only have one big money signing planned (Daniel Agger).

How can you know that?

City's record of bringing through young players in the past few years is non existent.

FFP? Try explaining that to PSG who have bought Lavezzi, Thiago Silva, Lucas and Zlatan this summer.

Serbian

Just because they haven't brought through young players in the past doesn't mean they don't have a long term plan.

Unlike Chelsea they seem to want to do things the right way. They haven't spent loads of money this summer and Guidetti is a very good striker.

As for FFP, PSG haven't got the squad that City have so are going crazy now. They may well get punished for that but City already have a top squad and rightly see central defence as a position that needs strengthening.

I could be wrong, of course but the last place I see Van Persie going is City. It's between us and Juventus.

My problem is, that Sir Alex clearly wants another attacking player. If we don't wrap up the Van Persie deal quickly there is a good chance we will miss out on him . And if we miss out on him we might not get another attacking player at all.

That means we will go into the new season with an insufficient squad, and yet if we were willing to let go of an extra few million we would have our attacking player and Sir Alex would have the squad he wants to work with.

I genuinely think that this is designed to put pressure on our owners. It's out in the open that we've missed out on one target after weeks of attempting to haggle down the price and it's only a matter of time before we miss out on RVP. It's not about whether you want him or not, it's about the fact that the manager did and does but will ultimately fail when a sugar daddy club finally steps in.
