Some speculation today that if Rovers fail in their bid to sign Rhodes from Huddersfield then they will switch their attention to John Guidetti of Man city.
Either could be a good signing for us as they both seem to know where the net is. Rhodes scoring circa 40 goals last season and Guidetti finding the net 20 times in 23 appearances for Feyenoord on loan.
Just wondering what your thoughts are and what your preference would be given the choice between the two? Although Rhodes has a fantastic scoring record it was only at League 1 level. Will he be able to re-create that form in the Championship? I have also heard a lot of people saying he struggles with a lack of pace.
Guidetti had a very successful spell at Feyenoord last season and has been touted as a top talent for a while now. He obviously isnt going to break into the City team any time soon so he may be willing to drop into the Championship for regular games. I can't say that I've seen much of him and we all know a good scoring record in Holland doesn't always guarantee goals in England. Anyone remember Alfonso Alves? Theres also the slight problem of brief spell at Burnley in 2010/11.
If Rhodes could be signed for around £4-5 million then I would probably go for him but all the noises from Huddersfield seem to indicate that wont be enough. In that case I wouldnt want to pay any more and would move on to Guidetti. What do you guys think?
Rhodes or Guidetti?

As you said, Guidetti did well at Feyenoord last season but to be honest I don’t see why he’d want to drop down to the Championship unless it was just a loan deal.
The Rhodes situation worries me. He was watched by a host of premier league clubs but none have seen enough to warrant making a bid for him. Why is that? If we got him for £4-5m, then ok but all the sounds coming out of Huddersfield are that they are looking for a lot more….
Remember Kevin Davies ? £7.5m

Like I've said before if thats the price you want for him then that is fair enough. He is a Huddersfield player and you are entitled to ask whatever price you want for him.
Whether or not he is realistically worth that much and whether or not Rovers will pay that is a completely different matter. Personally I think £4-5 million is a fair price. It then comes down to whether or not Rhodes wants to leave for Rovers. I agree with the Huddersfield fans in thinking he probably doesnt want to come here.
This is football though, and stranger things have happened.

If we could get the pair of them one transfer and another on loan that would be great now all we need is a defence and a midfeild and a pair of wingers and we will stroll this league!

With Venkys millions and Kean’s managerial expertise, there will be no stopping us this year. I reckon, promoted by March
