Cavani
Appearances for Napoli = 68
Goals = 49
Torres
Appearances for Chelsea = 46
Goals 7
Ive got the stats off Wiki.
If we do get Cavani, He'd be an upgrade on Torres. No doubt about that.
Younger, Fitter, More Hungrier and he will improve in the coming years.
Torres imo has declined massively and will only decline further.
Torres V Cavani

Wrong because they're in totally different leagues and you don't have a clue if Cavani would settle or not and replicate that form its all ifs and buts. He don't look the same without Lavezzi.
I imagine somewhere in the japanese league or somewhere like that a striker has 80 goals in 90 games for a japanese team would you want him?
Look at Jordan Rhodes goal ratio, amazing, still wouldn't want him though

So we should only go for strikers who are in the same league?
Cavani has played yet without Lavezzi except for in the Olympics.
Come on, looking at their league form, you cant deny that he's is a hell of a lot more impressive than Torres and the risk with him flopping is a lot less than the risk of Torres having a major 7 month drought AGAIN

It's all ifs and buts if Torres will remember how to be a striker as well

Mr C i'm not defending Torres, i agree we need another striker, i'm just saying the striker we need is someone else not the equivalent of Torres and a second Torres

Yakubus league form is impressive, 18 goals in 33 games, wanna buy him?
Rooney didn't score from open play in something like 8 months, Villa went 17 games without scoring the season before last

How would Cavani be more Hungrier than Torres? He just had the worst 2 seasons of his life, he will not want to be known as the £50m flop. Not saying he is/isn't going to do well, but I don't think you will find a player thats wants to well more than Torres atm.

Cavani is a huge upgrade on Torres (although I do think Torres will score quite a lot this season).
The myth that top players in foreign league might not make it is slowly being dispelled. A lot of players are coming here and doing very well. Cavani would be no different.

I still haven't condemned Torres to the scrap heap yet. I've yet to see him with a decent run in the side without the prospect of being dropped.
And I haven't seen him with a decent midfield or support (bar Mata) behind him yet.
Lets see how he does this season before passing judgement!
