I don't know how to multi board this so any fan of anyteam that comes onto this board can choose.
I've been having a debate with a couple l'pool fans mocking our 8 yrs trophy less streak and they were gloating that they have won the capital one cup but i also stated that they finished 8th behind there nearest neighbors. They seemed to see that as success and were implying that they had a better season than us.
So im throwing it out there to all fans. What would you prefer for your team?.
3rd place automatic finish guarantees your club CL football and a bundle of money for your club?.
8th place and Capital one cup guarantees you a trophy and qualify's your team for Europe's 2nd competition?.
Automatic CL Place vs Capitalcup 8th place

The thing is the CL cash is significant and should give the club a massive opportunity to re-invest that and a fantastic opportunity to win trophies.
Arsenal are approaching a decade of no trophies despite being ever present in the champions league for that time.
No wonder players are leaving... 8 years is a fair chunk of anyone playing career.

That was what I'd said, emphasis on "after winning the league cup"

Well we'll see how that changes if you consistently keep finishing in 6th/7th/8th. Not to mention, you have one of the highest wage bills in the league so that probably gives your players' incentive to stay if they know other clubs won't be willing to pay as much for their services.
Personally I think you'll finish no lower than 7th but as high as 5th. Can't see you breaking back into the top 4 just yet though.

Given the choice, every club would rather get the CL spot.
But question for arsenal supporters. Just for argument's sake for one (and only one) season 4 years ago you dropped out of the CL spots but won the league cup, would you take it?
Just to have won something.

Well yes but only if we got into the Champions League the next season. But that's easy to say from a hypothetical perspective because in reality, as it's been shown, once you drop out of the top 4, it is incredibly hard to get back in.
Thats why last season I didn't care about getting a trophy - we had a horrendous start to the season and all I cared about was getting a CL spot. Normally I would care, but last season, it was imperative to get a place in the top 4 more than anything and when it looked impossible, we managed to get 3rd in the end. So the players and Wenger do deserve credit for that in the end, but it was slightly disappointing to not win anything still.
But that disastrous start to the season can't happen again - this season my expectations are to win a trophy whilst maintaining Champions League status. Anything less and I wouldn't consider it a good season.

Think opposition fans go on about this 7 year trophy drought too much tbh. other clubs have gone 20-30 years without a trophy before including united pool and chelsea. and also arsenal
this is a small trophy draught compared to some.
also how many clubs are there really that win a trophy every season. a small %. i think the majority of teams are aiming to make money and that means finishing as high as they can

Now come on... How many other teams have had access to the champions league riches, and I mean considerable riches that Arsenal have had, yet experience this kind of trophy drought?

haha "considerable riches" what an odd turn of phrase
WE had to finance a stadium move mate... how's yours coming along?

So the stadium has cost you in terms of trophies?
What is it you're trying to say?
