He has not won a title outside of clay for close to 2 years.

This years US open is just that "Open".
Nadal may purge himself and try an all out, sod the injury, escapade to win the title.
Federer will retire after the WTF's this year (you read it here first), so the US open will be his last chance to get one.
Djokovic needs to reinstate his invincibility, that weapon of his that was so potent last year, and if he doesn't, well, the last slam of 2012 will either be a damp squib for him or one more meteoric rise again into domination mode, but for me its going to be a damp one.
That leaves Murray. And what can I say, he'll either be extremely hot or luke warm, depending on certain factors like injury niggles or the Djokovic Juggarnaut. Whatever happens, he's not the same Andy anymore, the other one absconded and has not been seen since.

I think the Great British Olympic Champion is going to win the USO. After than who knows. Andy Murray is looking superb at the moment and is going to be a handful for anybody.
Happy days.

Thats what people were saying back in 09 when Nadal had a similar season
Then he came back and won 3 majors in a row

2009 was three years ago, i doubt that Nadal will be the same player after injury. I really doubt that he will be able to win a major again as Andy is peaking now and if Djoko manages his schedule then it is really difficult for Rafa.
