I keep hearing amazing things about this fella Woakes, and am guessing he is just having a bad day today?

It is the very same man, although only the Aussie equivalents of Maksi, most of us overhyped him that much.

He has however the youngest man to score a century in both innings of a test match and that was against Steyn and Morkel in Durban.

He's been playing pretty well in county so I think that's why he got a call up. DIsappointed Khawaja and Marsh couldn't make it, don't even know if it's injuries.

Thankfully our bowling seems ok (bar the spinner who is middling) but our batting is not great but they've been ok the last few series, we'll see how we manage against the Saffers later this year.

Fair enough.

There have been plenty of good starters who didnt go on to make it.

Other ones for me that spring to mind for me are dwayne smith scoring a century on debut in south africa, and greg blewett scoring a century in each of his first 3 tests (all against england ) but only playing about another 10 games or something.

From what little of seen of marsh (if it's the player im thinking of - scored a 100 against the last enligsh touring side, and i think got called up to the world cup team as an injury replacement) he looks like he might be the aussie equivelant of a hick or a ramprakash with the talent but not the temperament.

some of your guys are given so much hype though, it must be tough to live up to, eg martyn and your current skipper.

Harris is a pretty good bowler, I'm pretty sure he went off the radar recently until he took a 5-fer for Glamorgan. He's like the batting version of James Taylor whilst Taylor was playing in Divison Two. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have the pace of Meaker or a Dernbach... but is a pretty good player to have in the team.

As for Woakes to put it simply, he's much better than Bresnan.
