A good start for Torres

Just got out of bed and about to go out for my morning run and the first thing that comes to my mind is 'Torres didn't play like he was short of confidence, every time he got the ball he tried to do something positive with it, and there was not hesitation about what to do, he always wanted to run towards goal or take on a defender, he was scared of no one, he knew what to do even before he got the ball, he didn't think twice about scoring, just poked it in. As I run uphill, on getting to the top, I slow down a little to catch my breath and I notice a huge Pepsi-Drogba-Messi billboard ahead and a quick thought flashes through my mind, with Drogba gone is the spell broken, is FT free at last to be himself and play his normal game. Well, time will tell, I make a quick turn and sprint downhill, to get set for work.

At his best he is easily in top 5 strikers(not including messi and ronaldo) in the world for me along with falcao, ibrahimovich, RVP, Tevez.

I really like how he was always on the last defender for most of the time, rather than always dropping deep which was so infuriating

Thought he done great, a year ago he would have missed that goal, controlled the ball well and a cool crisp finish.

Caused some problems for City as well especially Savic and even Kompany had to barge him over to stop him, work-rate was his usual good as well ran all the way back a couple of times to put pressure on the ball and try and win it back.

Thought him and Sturridge linked up well as well, good link up that led to the goal. Sturridge looked very lively and looks like he has learnt to pass when he should.

Hazard impressed me greatly as well, only 21 and after that backheel and the constant booing thought his head would drop but instead he shrugged it off and was at the forefront of everything.

Only negatives from yesterday imo were the defence, thought Terry was once again very poor and these bad games for Terry are becoming a regular habit now and from Lampard and Mikel were crap, kept giving the ball away and Hazard like Torres last season was constantly calling for the ball and getting nothing.

Only the charity shield though so i'll let them off as everyone has bad games, just think Lamps needs to stop running up front every time

The distinct difference yesterday was when we had possession, he never thought to come deep. He had faith that the midfield would find him. He played like a real striker yesterday, it's not that he had faith/or lack of in himself, it's that he had faith in the players around him. Makes such a big difference.
