Ask post US Open.
If Nole wins in New York and I think the momentum shift that would go with it could serve as a 2nd launch pad and I would fancy him to maybe chase Nadal's haul down. It's a case if anyone can stop Nadal at RG.

I think they will end up very close.
Who will edge who is the question.

I think Nole will end up with around 10 not more than that. It is Andy's time, he will win few as soon as he wins his first (which should be US)

Federer is out of reach for both IMO.
Neither will reach 17 or more slams. Looks impossible.

It could be something like Nole 10 slams and Nadal 12 slams. Off clay Nadal is not winning more slams, clearly. His best bet is another and final RG title.

Rafa Nadal is and always will be a better player than the robotic serbian so I am guessing he will win more.
I feel he will win 10 French Opens so that will take his total up to 14 and then he may grab 3 more. Djokovic won't get up to 16 or 17. Rafa will.
I love the way he is taking time out to get his game in shape for the tournaments that really matter. Serena is doing the same and look what is happing to her

Maksi Serena and Nadal are both different scenarios!
Serena is good at all courts but I admit even as a Nadal fan that it is looking unlikely that he will win a Grand Slam on hardcourt though he might win Wimbledon once and 2 more French Opens!
So that will bring him to 14 Grand Slams!

Nadal since Djokovic will not hit double digits at the slams.
Why Nole will not win 10+ slams
The four players that won 10+ slams in the open era, Borg, Sampras, Federer and Nadal at one point in their careers were 10-2 in slam finals. All four of them. By the time Borg, Sampras. Federer and Nadal lost their third slam final, they had 10+ slams.
After losing his third slam final, Borg had already won 10 slams, Sampras had already won 13 slams, Federer had already won 12 slams and Nadal had already won 10 slams.
Djokovic has already lost his third slam final but has only won 5 slams. He is nowhere close to the 10+ slams that Borg, Sampras. Federer and Nadal had already won by the time they lost the third slam final of their careers.
Djokovic is not following the trajectory of the 10+slam winners of the open era since he is 5-3 in slam finals. His trajectory is more similar to the players that won around 8 slams in the Open era.
