Even our players are starting to take the pisss out of us not signing a striker now.
If we lose our first two games without scoring a goal, I can see the fans starting to give Levy some stick.
Just saying.
Could WHLane turn on DL after 1 home game ?

Looks like your lot are going into this season pretty much the same way the mighty Arsenal went into last season.
Fans unhappy at lack of transfers in. Rumours a top CM wants out. A few injuries. Only one striker.
Now I wouldn't go as far as predicting Spurs will get an 8-2 thrashing in the next month, but at the same time I won't predict Jermaine Defoe will have a wonder season.

All I can say to that is that I hope Kane is Ronaldo in disguise....

I'll reserve my judgement until after deadline day, but I can't say I'm not getting worried

I don't think Benny would disrespect.the club like that, certainly not if he thought we weren't going to sign anyone. Can you imagine how Defoe would feel, let alone the manager.
I know I made a PANIC article, but seriously this is going too far - we've got weeks to buy players yet.

the thing is, there's no point making a stand after the transfer window's shut. it would be a total waste of time.
the only window the fans have to influence whether we get a striked in is the next 2 and a half weeks.
just sayin.

I have no doubt in my mind that Levy, along with AVB, has been chasing strikers and putting offers in, but isn't always as easy as saying ''we need a striker....go and get one''
How many on here knew we had but a bid in for Ramirez (apparently) before it was printed earlier?
Ade is being held up on his end with City rather than with us.
Leandro has been at the Olympics so even if we had a bid, how could we have discussed personal terms?
We all know Levy has the clubs best interests at heart, so yes it is financial, but is also success and sure they are working hard behind the scenes on the targets.
People turning on Levy obviously forget or are too young to understand where we were pre Levy and Enic days and our league positions and team's quality at the time!
I for one have the utmost respect for how the club is run and appreciate what Levy has done and is doing!

fair enough adam.
what would be your position on 1 september if we have been dropping points left right and centre due to not scoring goals, and if we still havent signed a striked.
would you be full square behind DL then ?
what about if we continued to lose games til christams due to not being able to put the ball in the net. would he still have your full support at that point ?
i realise that these are hypotheticals here, but i am interested to know whether you suggest unwaivering support because you have faith that we will get a striker in in the next 2 and a half weeks, or is it because you will just be supportive no matter what happens ?

29gpb - hey mate.
Is not blind faith in Levy, love in the past is not guaranteed for the future....or else I wouldn't have such a trail of ex's
However, is a tough one to answer. Yes I have faith we will have a striker in the next 2 and a half weeks, but like I said, is not as cut and dry as just getting one. We could sign a striker, but none of us want another Rasiak or Frazier Campbell coming in.
Quality strikers are hard to come by, for the right price in todays market and on a wage that isn't going to have other first teamers demanding similar terms.
We all hate seeing drawn out sagas such as Ade or Modric, but by leaving deals behind closed doors we have no idea what Levy is working on so we can't have it both ways!
When the day comes that I see a complete change in our policy that reflects say, Newcastle's a couple of years ago, or Pompeys under Harry where we are looking for ageing past it players or young unknowns, then I will change my outlook of Levy.
as it is, we are still chasing Ade, signed Sigs and Vertonghen, have put in decent bids on Leandro and Ramirez. So obviously still chasing quality players, all established internationals, with experience but young enough to have a great future.....cannot see anything wrong with that policy whatsoever.

fair enough Adam. nice post
ive got no problem with the idea we're out for quality players. but my concern is that our policy is to pay peanuts for these quality players - and that just aint going to happen. what i was trying to point out was that if the fans are going to have any influence on the board to spend that extra buck, then the only chance to do it is in the next two weeks.
tbh, it doesnt bother me that much personally anyway. i like the players weve got (including defoe), and i like watching them win lose or draw. it just strikes me though that there is going to come a day when the board realises that it has to spent if it wants to achieve it's ambitions, and that that moment could well come too late to do anything about it.
