Nigel Clough seems to think that keeping the squad in England, and pretty much in and around Derby will prevent them from getting in to trouble.

Has he never been to D. Gio's, Fever and Blue Note of a Friday and Saturday night? You never know, they might get a little bit drunk and steal a traffic cone.

I am just glad McEveley's not with us any more

It would solve our left-back problem though!

Nigel appears to have a strong puritanical streak, bit like his dad but without the whisky. Perhaps that's why he signed the Amish lad Brayford.
I too am glad McEveley isn't still with us but not because of his drinking. Possibly the worst passer of a ball I have ever witnessed (excluding Bywater).

Really Spartacus?
I thought technically McEveley was pretty good. He had a sweet left foot and could whip decent crosses in.
Defensively I thought he was poor.
Roberts is terrible on the ball but his positioning defensively is better.

CR20. My enduring memories of Jay Mac were when he would receive the ball unmarked and take his time, look up and then launch the ball into the crowd. Or him recovering the ball near the touch line only for him to return it to the opposition. The odd goal from the edge of the box or cross never compensated for these errors. I did think he was better playing in the centre than wide though. He didn't seem to do so much damage.
Roberts is a safer option than Jay Mac though I have to confess that his performances particularly early on were disappointing.

TBR I've been thinking about this all day, why would a team not want to go abroad to train, then I heard Nigel Clough on radio Derby at 6pm, making all his excuses, saying that the players would more than likely want to stay at home to train so they can go back to their wags. Are we sure Glick has not had a word with Nigel to make these excuses, as he just wants to save the pennies just like they did last season and the season before. Like you said, he came out with the old chestnut, he doesn't want any of his players getting into trouble while they're away, well they could get into trouble here, so what's the difference? In my opinion, they are penny pinching again.
