The League Cup started on the weekend much to my surprise,what happened there I dont know.
Having mates at work who are PL fans and have no interest in this trophy,unless they get to the final.I suggest the powers that be give the competiition back to the teams outside the PL .Before people winge about who should qualify for the european spot,sod it let the team who wins it have it.Teams who qualify for the bloomin tournament dont want to be in it anyway.Imagine a Bolton/Wolves cup final or similar,lets give the cup back to the league and give it some meaning.

Teams in Europe maybe should be allowed to opt out, we only have to play a couple of games to get to the semi final.
Either that, or make teams declare squads for the competition. Thus if you name kids for the early rounds you are stuck with them if you get to the semis.

Good points about naming squads,but this cup is being de classed,lets make it exciting again.
I believe Liverpool and the teams you mention do not take it seriously.This competition and the Uefa cup were really good knockout cups when I was growing up,but I believe they are now a hinderance to clubs now.
The League Cup with teams outside the PL would be brilliant for English football.

Young players generally get their first outings, with the more established sides anyway, in the league cup.
Maybe the squad idea makes sense but with the added rule that you must name a certain number of youngsters in that squad.
Also the mid-table premier league teams comment is just brilliant.

I don't think those two posts contradict each other, lets face it, you all cared about the league cup after that clanger cost you the final in 2011. It's a trophy all clubs want to win.
