The actual transfer fee has absolutely zero to do with a players value anyway. That transfer fee is purely to compensate the other club. It is not a player valuation, strictly speaking. It is compensation.
Of course, I'm sure clubs are able to take out insurance on a player. I imagine Real Madrid would have covered themselves when paying for Ronaldo.

Cannot believe a discussion on accounts it being taken place when a footballer almost died........unbelievable

I cannot believe that someone can be offended by pragmatism.
When a family member pops it, you still have a funeral to arrange.

I'm still not completely convinced he's not been putting it on. The world's biggest pulled sicky if you ask me.

Not remotely offended Bricks - yes you do have a funeral to arrange, but i dont see how much profit i can make from it.
LH - Might be 5 months ago, but the realities of what happened will be perhaps hitting him hardest now, when his livelihood has been taken away

Clegg - I accept all that, but I don't think we're being unreasonable, as fans on an internet forum, discussing whether the club will be insured now he has retired. He did not die yesterday. Our club has no money, we must think about the future too.
