'Premier League changes rules on 'weakened' teams'
Top-flight clubs will now be allowed to pick any player in their 25-man matchday squad without fear of sanction from the Premier League.
none of this rubbish of 25k fines and rival fans on here whining when we decide to use our squad depth.

We covered this yesterday, and you looked a total tool then.
What ever made you think things would change today?

Agree it is about time, it always annoyed me that it was some suit in the FA judging what he deemed was a weakened team. How the hell would he know who is good and who is bad? He or they don't see training week in week out, the manager is the only one who can and should pick his team, this rule was a joke and I can completely understand why McCarthy and Holloway were so annoyed last year.
I mean look at it like this, we all have opinions on who is good who is bad etc. If you were to take the diverse opinions of all ja606 users into account then a hell of allot of players would be both good and bad therefore making it nigh on impossible to decide what constitutes a weakened team.

Although what you say is very true, I don't think that is really the point.
The point, or at least as far as I am concerned, is that if the premier league is telling you to name a 25 man squad, then they should allow you to use that squad how ever you see fit.

Yeah that's true it's the managers prerogative to choose who he want's to play from the 25 man squad, I guess I'm just bemoaning the fact that there are too many people involved in positions of high importance who really don't know enough about the game, and it is these people who make some of the major decisions.

Very true.
The FA is rife with this kind of fool.

Our 2nd team got us though to the CL semi final. I'd have loved to have seen he FA try and make the 'wakened team' charge stick in one of their competitions after that result!

We fielded a weakened team vs Leeds in the Fa Cup a couple of years ago and also a weakend team in the last game of the season Vs Hull
I presume nothing happened at the Hull game because we won the game but not to sure why they don't seem to care about it in the FA Cup. Maybe it's because it doesn't affect other teams like it does in a league situation

I was a ridiculous rule. Someone earlier made a good point, that being who in Soho is actually deeming these teams 'weak'? Surly they would have to spend time monitoring the squad at the training ground on match day to get a true representation of who is performing at their peak at any given time.
If this was going on, I'll hold my hands up, but I somehow thing it wasn't.
Gill made comment about United being picked on, and made an example of with regards to a few FA decisions last year. He was spot on, and this rule was a perfect example of when these 'examples' were being made. And not only with United...

Just a small point here, but this is nothing to do with the FA.
