He'll be on loan at a PL club this season

Chelsea obviously want to hold onto Bertrand as he seems to be a good contender for future England left back, however, I didn't think he was THAT good, don't get me wrong, I'd have him back in a flash but he wasn't IMO the calibre of player that should be England left back in the future. Anyone else agree/disagree?

I agree entirely!! A cracking player at club level (ideally ours), but good enough for the international stage i'm not so sure! But then again the majority of the rest of the England team are tosh, so imagine he's got as good a chance as any of getting into it !!

He makes mistakes and doesn't always look strong, but the same can be said for Kieran Gibbs.
Chances are 1 of them will be a regular England player in the future and that's why Arsenal and Chelsea want to hold on to them.
Bertrand has had the last 3? seasons on loan in the Championship, time to step up and play for QPR/Swansea/Norwich. I suspect the latter, as he played for them before.

Stuart Pearce seems to rate him - above Gibbs, apparently - and I guess he knows what it takes to be a decent England left back . Also, he rates Bertrand's attitude, which is really what separates the most successful players from the rest.
Looking at past interviews, I get the impression that Bertrand feels that it's time to test himself in the Premier League and, to be fair, I wouldn't blame him.
Wolves are supposed to be interested, so he may well end up there. I think it shows good management on Chelsea's part. Cashley has been, more or less, excellent for a long time, but he's getting on like the rest of the squad and injuries are becoming more of an issue. In a season or three, we might see a bit more of Bertrand in the Chelsea first team.
