There have been quite a few over the past decade or so. Mine are.
Realms of the Haunting (PC) - Not many people know about this game but it was epic when it first came out. It was so scary I could only attempt to play it during the day. Never even clocked it.
SCARE RATING: 8/10
Silent Hill (PS1) - Man this was another scary game. That ringing bell and those little hobbit guys still send shivers down my spine.
SCARE RATING: 7.5/10
Alien vs Predator (PC) - Playing as a marine, this is by far the scariest game I've ever played. Those Aliens come out of no where and that sonar tracking system with its beeping sound does not help at all.

Project Zero/Fatal Frame was 12spooky144me.
I didn't even play it, just hid behind the sofa whilst a friend played through.

Resident evil 1 was jumpy!
Silent hill 1 & 2 were pretty freaky!
Resident evil 2 wasn't scary, but it was jumpy, same with Resident evil 3

Dead Space 2 starts off scary, but the monsters become a bit too frequent and it get's tedious.

Good call. Creepy game but even better shooter. FEAR 2 had the scariest demo. Never played the full game.

Ah yes Big Rigs 2. The fantastic game where the opposing car waited patiently near the finish line while you crossed it. And of course you could reverse at infinite speed. Greatest game ever!
