Get rid of International Football

Well maybe not totally just during the domestic season....You may say that I'm not a patriot but that isn't really the case as I support my country in virtually every other sport just not football . it seems to me that our clubs invest so much in their players and so many seem to get injured during these games and some have their careers ended , Led King's problems all started from international football add to that Ashton of West Ham never played again after an England camp

The start of this season has been greatly affected by the crazy friendlies and then as soon as we start the league we have more international breaks , surely it's time for football to join the real world can you imagine any other form of multi billion pound business allowing millions and millions of pounds worth of assets to be loaned to what is basically another company

OK . OK a lot of you will say how much they enjoy the W.C and the Euro's which admittedly do take place in the closed season and I wont object to them providing they can sort out some way of having a qualifying touney in the off season of the year before , when you take out the international breaks during the season it will decrease the length of the season which will allow time for a tournament to be held which decides who attends the following years majors

Football has changed during the last 30 years except internationals and it's time for that form of the game to catch up

Really good debate , makes a change from the usual insults we normally hurl at each other

Thanks to all

I am curious as to how the other leagues feel about them, they might like them..

Afternoon Lucas

Do you leagues in Europe or the lower leagues in this country.....If you mean the later I have a feeling that that is where most of England's support comes from , check out the flags

Why exactly do Northern Ireland deserve to qualify from their group? Wouldn't you rather see them knocked out (as a neutral)

Obviously everyone loves an underdog story, but they're dramatically enhanced the greater their trial.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I never said they deserved to qualify - i said the deserved the chance to qualify - huge difference.

As a naturel i would rather England and the bigger countries earned their way into the competitions.

They do have the chance to qualify. By beating the better teams.

Why can't you say that you'd rather the smaller countries have to earn the right? They're the small ones, not the big ones.

I think you have this on its head.

im not saying change anything with the qualification system.

i dont agree that the smaller should have to earn their right to qualify - there is nothing wrong with the current qualifying system. Some of the big teams seem to think its below them.
