Barton

Does anyone else think it is wrong to allow Barton to go out on loan to Marseille, thus sidestepping the 12 match ban in the PL?

I think it makes a mockery of the disciplinary system and does the image of football no good at all.

I hope Uefa step in and prevent this loan happening, or at the very least insist that Marseille do not play him until the ban has taken effect.

Another alternative is for the FA to suspend his registration until QPR have played 12 matches...................................................or insist that if and when Barton returns to English football, he then serves the ban.

At present, nobody comes out of this looking good, The FA, the PL, QPR, Marseille or Uefa.......................................................In all honesty I hope we do not see Barton in the PL ever again, he is a nasty individual who has too many last chances!

What genius said - his ban would still apply when he came back.. wouldn't it?

Mr C, it's a whole season loan and its a different country football government.

So he's eligible to play the next game.

Bales...............................I think QPR are working on the premise that the ban would be nullified if Barton was playing in the French league.............

Saint Oh ok. Does Barton actually know he's off on loan to Marseille ?

He seemed to be in the dark yesterday when news came out, he's not been assigned a squad number.

Well he'd be playing genius, but I thought the FA suspension would stand regardless. Kind if like a player being able to play in CL games and not domestic. Surely it'd make a mockery of the system.. on the plus side Barton would be out of the country

Irrespective of which league it is, Uefa should not allow this blatant cheating of the system!

As usual neither the PL or the FA have commented on this................................

Geniusgreaves - I'm pretty sure in order for his ban to start reducing he has to be registered as eligible by a team within that country, if he registers with Marseille on loan then his ban will still be in place because he won't be eligible for QPRs games this season.
