Well Here We Go

All the deals have been done, new formations considered.and tried

I haven't had the call from Robbo yet, so I guess I am too old to be considered for leading the attack.(thank goodness for that!!)

I am sure all the new guys will gel well and look forward to MK Dons being top of the table tomorrow night (well I can hope)

Good luck to Robbo and the team, lets hope for a successful season and a promotion party at the end of it

We should be ok as long as we dont get any defenders sent off for stupid off the ball incidents,
Remember we only have a small squad, and Robinson has said we were let down by a poor disciplinary record last year,
We are already doing very well on that front as we have only had two players sent off so far in two games.
Robinson may well find himself in trouble with the FA after todays game as he saluted the Oldham fans at the final whistle.
What I dont understand is the game was won why do players get themselves sent off in such circumstances.
On a positive note was very impressed with Lowe and I think Powell could have a really good season.
Kay looked very solid till his moment of madness.

I don't see why Robbo should be in trouble he applauded them and then gave them a wave goodbye. If anyone should be in trouble is the Oldham No 10 the dirtest player I've seen for a long while. I hope the refs have sussed him and his cheating bag of tricks.

What the hll is the matter with these guys, 2 competitive matches , 2 Red Cards and Smithy comes on for 14minutes and gets a Yellow.

Its a great win to start the season, but Robbo must do something about the discipline, as Super says the game was already won, totally senseless and unless someting is done, a number of players are going to miss a significant number of games which will impact the final position at the end of the season.

I agree, but Robinson will undoubtably claim it's 'passion'... There's passion, and there's stupidity. That sort of business which Kay got sent off for is stupidity and not passion. However other than that he impressed me again and really is captain material.

Powell again impressed, big season for him and with that confidence in front of goal I still fancy him for a forward role! A lot of his goals are '1 on 1' with the keeper, not too many long range shots or nicks in from crosses or whatever so he's clearly calm in front of goal, and more often than not calmly finishes away, can't recall him missing too many guilt edge chances.

I could not see the Kay incident, but clearly saw Mckenzies booking - yet again balls over brain - he just cannot keep his mouth shut - he talked himself into that one. Likewise Smith needs to tone down his rash challenges - I can see both Smith and McKenzie racking up a quick succession of yellows and end up with an automatic ban. They all really need to know better and play with discipline - these were totally uncessary and we would have still won the game easily with out those actions.

Need more of the crosses Powell was lashing in nice and low - with McD or Lowe will get on the end of those.

Martin seems to be getting the hang of the high crosses now - looking good

No matter how good a performance Gary has, he's never getting acknowledged for a performance but instead slated for a yellow card

If we are to go up this season, we cannot afford to lose any of the squad to avoidable bookings or sending offs - our squad is still thin and last season it cost us.

While Gary puts in good defensive performances, he should be professional enough not to start arguing with the ref - there is no point - and it cost him a yellow card.

Gleeson was unlucky to get sent off (the other day) - I am not advocating not going into the tackle - but Smith is prone to be just reckless, and Chadders was a yellow card in waiting, his tackles were just off timing for much of the game.

I get wound up when the cards are totally avoidable - dissent and lashing out - we cant afford to lose players because of that

I get with you Moo. Unscientifically I believe a bad disciplinary record could cost us between 5 to 10 points a season.

This isn't just based on losing players but other teams winding us up knowing they can get us cautioned and sent off as well as having a poor reputation with the refs who will favour the other teams in difficult decisions,.

It could be the difference between going up or not.

I agree, Smith is just carrying on from last season, his record is appalling, 18 games and 6 yellows last season, this season 14 minutes and a Yellow. He will spend a good portion suspended.

Robbo must stamp down hard on discipline and especially avoidable cards.

First 2 games of the season - 8 cards
Chadwick 2 yellows
Kay 1 red 1 yellow
Gleeson 1 red
McKenzie 1 yellow
Potter 1 yellow
Smith 1 yellow

Not sure if cup cards count towards a league supension?
