Spurs were almost rampant at time in the first half, but looked like the away team in the 2nd against a vastly improved opponent.

Friedel 6 - couldnt do anything about the goals tbf
Ekotto 4.5 - just about got himself out of trouble, but looked a liability a couple of times
Kaboul 5.5 - average game. couple of sloppy passes
Gallas 5.5 - decent. possibly could have stuck his head in the way of ba's shot.
Walker 4.5 - unusual bad game. where was he for that corner ?
Liverm' 7.5-broke the play up brililantly in the first half. good pressing.
Sandro 7.5 - broke the play up brilliantly in the first half. good pressing.
Sig 5 - couple of nice touches but generally poor
Bale 5 -poor
Defoe 8- one bad moment when he passed it to noone, otherwise good.
Lennon 7- looked very lively at time. involved in the pen.

Oh im not taking anything away from the great Demba Ba brilliant shot.
Although AVB has just said he thought for ba's goal that he could have been closed down better. Cough cough Gallas!

what did bale do man we need our best players to perform and he just didn't. also vdv was a LOT deeper than sig, isolating defoe even more

vert looks like he's on a sunlounger in a pair of shades on the ball, but he still passes it to the oppoistion.
agree gallas gave the ball away once today with a bad pass, but there were worse sloppy ones including a shocker from kaboul (i think).

VDV played a beaut of a ball over the top to Defoe
We looked good pressing in the first half and were unlucky not to take a couple of chances.
Newcastle is a tough place to go to.
Plenty of positives... Just need a couPle of signings

not sure what signings would have done it for us today though. thought defoe was good. bale was pretty shiiit i thought. i'd have been interested to get townsend running at them for 10 minutes.

he had that one balls up where he past it to the corner flag, but i honestly thought he did well. held it up a couple of times, linked pretty well. didnt have to do much for his goal, but i really thought he was alright. agree we need a new striker in, but i cant think he wuold have done much more unless he'd got his head on a freekick or something which jd aint gonna do
