...for Clint Dempsey.
The lad was expecting to join Liverpool as he thought we had very firm interest yet we never followed up despite mentioning it in the press leaving the Texan in limbo for the upcoming season.
Poor lad!! Unprofessional from us.
I feel sorry...

Right, there you go. Now I am tiring of you so you can be alone with your thoughts and can decide for yourself if you think a manager should be talking publicly about a player whom your club hasn't even so much as made an offer for.

Worked for me red_man. It is Rodgers saying Liverpool did enquire about Dempsey.

Right, we made an enquiry about him. Does that mean we're obliged to make a bid?

It is more the publicly declaring an interest that is the problem, isn't it?

I don't see what the problem is. Modric didn't play for Spurs yesterday. He's stated he wants to leave after Real declared their interest. I don't see you up in arms about this.

On an article about Clint Dempsey?

Real have had a bid accepted. Modric is currently in Spain discussing personal terms to the best of my knowledge. And Spurs are willing to sell. Apart from that, the 2 situations are identical.

No in general. If you think we've been unprofessional with regards to Dempsey, then surely you'd take issue with Modric, and Real. It's the same scenario. Yet I bet I can't find a single comment on Modric, or Real, by yourself.
Again, just because we've declared an interest doesn't mean we're then obliged to bid. That said you never now what's going on behind the scenes. Who's to say s bid isn't in the pipeline, and you're getting all het up over nothing?

You won't find a comment where I have said Liverpool have been unprofessional. I slated the player not your club.
The Modric case is different from what I understand.
A year ago Modric wanted to move, was told he had to stay but was allegedly promised that if Madrid came in for him he could go for a certain price.
Modric never went on strike and refused to play for Spurs. Redknapp took a decision not to play him I think, but Modric never made himself unavailable.
This season is different. Real have made a bid, unlike Liverpool for Dempsey. Spurs are mucking Modric about in a way, especially with the alleged promise.
Two different cases, some similarities some big differences.
Plus you will find many comments from me criticising Real and Barca for their actions in transfer dealings.
