Following our 3-2 victory over a spirited Southampton, we have received some slight criticism for our performance.
However, I sometimes wonder if people (including pundits) even watch the games they pass opinion on.
Yesterday, had Silva, Clichy, Yaya, Balotelli and Dzeko converted more of the relatively good chances we created we could, with shooting boots on, have scored 10.
Now obviously, we didn't. And Southampton took their chances very well but a proper analysis I fell would be that Man City played well for the most part (first 10 minutes we were actually dominated) and could quite easily have sent out the message to our title rivals that apparently we didn't.
Southampton were clinical and adventurous at times and should stay up playing how they did in certain periods.
Any other fans feel City's performance was unjustly seen as a 'lucky', 'scraped', victory?
Anyone else think Rodwell had a brilliant game and not, as I have read/heard, average?
Looking forward to a great season.
Criticism?

Bit late joining this thread..only came back today...
In our opening game of last season against a newly promoted club, it took us 70 minutes to get the better of them and both Swansea and us had pretty good seasons.
Saints did better against us than Swansea did so all is not doom and gloom for them. They will need to learn PDQ how to close out a game though

Well United have got the hardest game of the season out of the way, should be plain sailing for them now.

Southampton attacked us when we played too open and it almost cost us the game. Our finishing is still not good enough (which was my main gripe last season), but the spirit and will to win is there. And a win is a win. United tracked us so closely last season by scraping wins, it's the sign of champions, they say.
Not complaining though, it's good to see we can come back from behind. I'd prefer it if we'd just win, rather than the faffing about, though.

"southampton at home is the easiest fixture of the season and City scraped a win"
In the past 12 months I've seen much worse performances at our place than Southampton; Stoke, Fulham, Wigan, Bolton and yourselves to name but a few.

Funny isn't it, because we won by one goal it's the easiest game of the season.
Old toilet last season was the easiest game we had!

Lets see what criticism United get today, probably not much.
As we know Goodison is not a easy fixture, but the result is not the point here, more to the point is just how poorly they actually played.

None of the pundits on Sky or MOTD could agree as to whether Tevez was offside. Even with the benefit of freezing the play, which the assistant ref does not have, it was inconclusive the defenders and Tevez were all in line with each other and the benefit when its unclear is meant to go with the attacking player. To hear the rags you would think it was a clear cut case of Tevez being at least a yard offside,
